2016 NY Burning Kouch (Beach Camping Trip) Orient, NY Friday 9/16 5:00 PM ET - Sunday 9/18 11:00 AM ET http://tinyurl.com/burningkouch2016 --- To get the event address: 1) Tell me what you plan to share at the trip, no matter how small (when in doubt, we could probably use more charcoal for the grills)! A big part of what makes the event amazing is the sharing culture. The event is as great as we collectively make it. To clarify some confusion from last year: There is no fee for the event! Organizers do this bc we love y’all; we expect nothing in return, other than that you enjoy yourselves and follow the short list of rules. What you bring to share is NOT for the organizers any more than it is for everyone else. 2) Introduce yourself! Tell me about how you found out about the trip, what you’re most looking forward to, if this is your first time, etc. Lastly, some VERY IMPORTANT, MUST READ notes. -Be mindful of ticks! Apply bug spray, cover your skin when possible. As far as we know, nobody has ever gotten Lyme disease from this trip; let’s keep it that way! -DO NOT TRESPASS. Many of you will choose to walk from the camp grounds to a local beach. That’s a great idea. When you are on this walk DO NOT go on the neighbor’s property, and DO NOT touch their stuff! DO keep your voices down when on this walk. -Bring clothes for cool weather! It may be cold at night. Also long clothes help keep ticks and bugs away. -Remember there are 2 main goals: Have fun, and get invited back again next year. -If you are driving and are interested in carpooling, please post in the rideshare group (link found in event description). -There is a great public transit option, the North Fork Jitney. See you soon! -Drew --- This is a 200+ person 2-night camping trip on a private 90-acre tree farm in Orient, NY! The farm is owned by fellow CouchSurfer, Bob, who generously opens his property for us to camp on for the weekend. The property is a short walk from the beach! Bob provides port-o-potties and a beautiful plot of land. We provide everything else! The event is free: you just need to bring everything you plan to use for the weekend. The community is awesome, and there will definitely be plenty of sharing going on as well! This event is one of the biggest, NY CouchSurfing events of the year! There will be live performances. Last year as we had multiple live musicians and DJs play as we danced under the stars in a crystal clear sky, group yoga and dance sessions, and more! We encourage you to bring your creativity and lead an activity! WE ARE LOOKING FOR MUSICIANS TO PERFORM AT THIS EVENT while we dance under the stars :).
