Adventure-loving family of three ready to swap stories, share a dram of whisky, and show you the real side of life off the beaten path. I'm easygoing, love a good laugh, and believe the best trips are the ones where plans get thrown out the window. By day I'm chasing off-grid living — think open skies, quiet trails, and a good fire under the stars. By night, I'm probably the one keeping the conversation (and the party) going a little longer than planned. Faith keeps me grounded, family keeps me smiling — my wife and our energetic 4-year-old son are usually part of the package deal, and they bring their own kind of chaos and joy to every guest's stay. No smoking here, but if you're bringing a bottle of good whisky, you've already won me over. Whether you're backpacking through, working remotely, or just need a soft landing and honest company, our door — and our stories — are open. Expect warmth, banter, a home-cooked meal if you're lucky, and a household that treats "stranger" as just a friend we haven't poured a drink for yet. Come as you are. Leave as family.

My name is Modekai, and I currently live in Khaega, Kakamega County, Kenya. I enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures because I believe every traveler has a unique story to share. For me, Couchsurfing is more than just finding a place to stay—it's about building genuine friendships, exchanging ideas, and creating unforgettable memories. I love traveling and exploring new places whenever I have the opportunity. Experiencing different cultures, tasting local food, learning traditions, and seeing how people live around the world inspires me. I hope to visit many countries in the future, and I also enjoy welcoming travelers who come to Kenya. If you stay with me, I'll do my best to make you feel comfortable and at home. I enjoy spending time with visitors, having meaningful conversations, showing them around the local area when I'm available, and sharing our Kenyan culture. I also love learning about your country, language, traditions, and travel experiences. I have a strong interest in architecture, construction, and design, so I always enjoy discussing these topics with people who share similar interests. At the same time, I'm happy to talk about anything that helps us learn from each other. I value respect, honesty, kindness, and open-mindedness. Whether we're sharing a meal, exploring Kakamega, or simply chatting over a cup of tea, I believe the best part of traveling is the human connection. If you're visiting Kakamega, Khaega, feel free to send me a message. I look forward to meeting people from all over the world, sharing experiences, and making lifelong friends. Safe travels, and I hope to meet you soon!
