** Please don't send me friend requests if we haven't met each other! ** CURRENT MISSION Getting out of my comfort zone. ABOUT ME I’m a 35 years old native Finn. I’ve been living in Tampere for 7 years now, I’m originally from the northern parts of Finland so peace and quiet are near and dear to my heart. I still appreciate some privacy, and am a bit of an introvert. My core values are curiosity, compassion and trust. I enjoy spending time with my friends, exploring the city and nearby nature spots. PHILOSOPHY I live my life to constantly better the life of myself and others.
I'm easy going and friendly person, who loves travelling and smiles a lot. I'm really good at finding positive side of the things. Usually that side is weird but at least it is positive and I think that is all that matters. I get interested about anything really easily and always say yes to any crazy suggestions. If something goes wrong, for me it is great memory. And... well I could live with just coffee as my drink and chocolate as my meal.
It's hard to describe a person who I have never met for the first time, but with whom I still spend all of my days. I suppose I'm quite a carefree, geeky and curious person. Although I like talking and interacting with people a lot, I also enjoy my solitude, when I can just read, observe things, get either lost in my thoughts or write them down. Volunteering and community activities have been very important and ongoing part of my life for past 10 years. I’ve been doing youth work, preventive work for substance abuse, volunteering in music festivals, event organisation, language exchanges, developmental co-operation and scientific networking in sustainability field. I used to live in Japan for 2 years in total, now back to Tampere to finish my masters degree from sociology.

CURRENT MISSION To throw myself at Life ABOUT ME I am a creative, inspired man. I like many things, I like to laugh and to make jokes. I love to run marathons, and even started running in hills and on trails with minimalist shoes. I liked to smoke as a teenager, then occasionally throughout my twenties, then stopped. Same with mouth tobacco, or 'nuuska' in Finnish, which I rarely use anymore. I enjoy smoking shisha, or 'nargile' in Turkish, but this is very rare, too. I consider myself to be health conscious, which includes the mind, body and spirit. I practice yoga, I meditate, and I try to avoid eating animals. I never try to change others lives, whether they like to eat meat or smoke, it's their choice. I had my hair dreadlocked for about a couple of years and loved how natural it felt. Years later, my hair is growing back. PHILOSOPHY I am an existentialist sort of person. I love to challenge the norm. But mainly I believe that love and peace are to be found everywhere, in anyone, all of the time.
We are an open-minded and green family with four members: Johanna (45), Mikko (43), V. (17) and O. (15). Usually we host and travel together, but depending on the situation you might meet any combination of us. I'm a generalist and an active citizen. I'm an invividual entrepreneur. In addition to that I volunteer for different causes (e.g. green politics, refugees, mental health, culture). People tend to describe me friendly, helpful and logical. My husband Mikko is a senior software developer. He is passionate about his job, open and straightforward, and enjoys talking to people. We have a good and pretty equal relationship and try to put effort to keep it that way. Our two children are both teenagers. The older one is quite introverted and mostly likes to spend time in solitude to read books or create art. The younger one enjoys entertainment and sports and is more outgoing and eager to meet people and maybe even chat a bit in English. Generally they tend to adapt well to having people around or visiting new places. Whatever happens, they take part in it in their own way or invent their own activities. There's a chance that our guests may meet more people than just our family members during their stay. We live in a cohousing community, and our neighbours and friends are always welcome for a visit. Although the profile is under my name, almost all the references are about our family - most of the time we've hosted and traveled together.
CURRENT MISSION Quite open to new places, new faces and different points of view. Let's share. Lived in USA, Finland, Colombia, Germany, England, Belgium, Japan and Philippines, and love to travel the world. ABOUT ME Friendly, approachable, curious about the world, adventurous, determined, competitive. I enjoy cooking for my guests, travel and photography. PHILOSOPHY To Kill a Mockingbird: Older Scout: [narrating] "One time Atticus said you never really knew a man until you stood in his shoes and walked around in them" WHAT I CAN OFFER GUESTS Bed(s), a hot shower, free WiFi, possibly a home-cooked meal, laundry (if needed), and if you dare, sauna.
CURRENT MISSION Enjoy life, good music and new people ABOUT ME Sound engineer living and working at Tampere. I have traveled pretty much and also used to host travelers. I love to get to know people all over the world and hopefully to help them to enjoy their time in Finland. My work is mostly traveling all over, so I have learned almost everything that can go wrong when you're on the road but still it´s nothing compared to what you can gain when you get to know new cultures and new people. So that is what I want to help people experience. At the moment, I´m working at Tampere Theater as a sound engineer and designer. I also work as a freelance audio engineer and musician, so my life is little unsteady but fun x) So that´s why when I host I don´t mind if you are coming to party, wake up every morning 8 am to go museum touring or just need couch for the night before your plane leaves. FOR SURFERS / COUCHREQUEST: If there is more than 1 surfer, please link all CS accounts to the request. Also if under 5 references / no verification, link also your facebook account to the request.
Biker, camper, hiker, runner. Film fan, book reader, church visitor (for achitecture). Visual work, journalism, communications, uni studies. Leftist, feminist. Cat owner. !!!! I DECLINE COPY-PASTE REQUESTS. I want our experience to be good, and I find non-personal requests a bit disrespectful (our home isn't a free hostel), so please write one reason why you'd like to surf at our home — then I know you read this profile and you’re aware of the cats etc :-) I'm lively, enthusiastic about many things, and I know how to throw a good party, but essentially I'm calm - I'm happy to live in city, but I respect quiet home evenings and love exploring the nature. I am happy to meet new people, and I am a yapper when in good mood, but I also enjoy my own company and enjoy travelling alone. As a host: I would be happy to show you around the city, but please, don't take it personally if you have to discover the city by yourself - my days are sometimes quite long. Will be super happy to share a short walk, a glass of wine, few thoughts or a film in the evenings, anyway. I don't usually party on weekdays, and we wish to keep our house quiet in the night time. As a guest: I am quite independent, and typically not in need of guidance with the city etc. Of course I will be happy to go together, but it’s not necessary. Usually I am just hoping for a place to relax and share some thoughts.
Nice to e-meet you, my name is Mona. I am a Finnish girl full of energy, positivity, and sense of humor. My friends often describe me as an idealistic couch surfer due to my adventurous and open-minded mindset. My way to recharge batteries is spending time with people and organize things. Even though I also love spending time on my own, I get most of my energy by interacting with others. My favorite motto “Life is too short for hesitating” is also a guiding principle in my life: You can’t get anything if you don’t try first. Getting new international friends, learning from different cultures and countries and maintaining my English skills are the main reasons for me to be involved in this great community of CS. This concept has given me a lot and the warmth and kindness of people have really blown me away several times. Nowadays I could not imagine my life without CS. My life path has carried me through many stages; studies in the universities of Vaasa and Tampere, short-term living experience in Bulgaria, travelling on my own around the world, different job positions in versatile organizations have all taught me something about myself and life in general. I am still looking for my place in this world but at the same time trying to life my life to the fullest. My professionalism in Finnish language can guarantee that as my guest you will most definitely learn the most useful tricks in Finnish and you will get deep understanding of our beautiful – yet one of the most difficult – language and our country's cultural characteristics.
Hey! I'm a former computer science student who's traveling a bit before I settle in one place. I really enjoy moving about and meeting new people. Having chill nights playing board games and cooking and long wanky discussions about idk philosophy or something. I'm generally quite flexible - if you want a lanky english tourist you can show the sights + talk about stuff with I'm Extremely Up for that but also if you're like intensely busy and actually hate people i'm happy to give you the space you need i hate people too sometimes
I'm a slow traveler with a suitcase, my backpack retired. I value genuine connection, deep conversations and sharing a laugh. Yes, I travel with a suitcase, but I have the soul of a backpacker. I’m not here to tick boxes or rush through tourist traps. I prefer to slow down, find a local surf spot, hike until my legs tire, and let spontaneous adventures find me. I work hard in blocks, save up, and then hit the road to truly immerse myself in a place. If you see me hosting, it means I have made it back to Finland, for a little bit, before heading off somewhere in the world.
