ABOUT ME Have been trekking on and off again for the past 20 years. Have been around Europe, America (North & South), Asia & Africa. I'm pretty chilled out, enjoy kicking back with a beer and a chat (politics, sport or anything) My apartment is ten minutes from the city via train with bus connections to Coogee Beach.
Update October 2023: Hakuna Matata Thanks for visiting my profile. I was born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but have been living abroad since 2014. I would say that I am still on a personal quest to find out whether I can have significant positive impact on the world. As Jesus said: "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." I am very aware of how entitled my life has been so far and also grateful for the abilities that I am blessed with, mainly my brain and character. I recently finished my PhD at JCU in Townsville studying the adaptive capacity of the Reef tourism industry to extreme climate events like coral bleaching and tropical cyclones. I'm currently working as a postdoc at JCU in Cairns, investigating the human dimensions of large-scale Great Barrier Reef restoration projects. I also teach a systems thinking and system dynamics course at Ateneo University de Manila in the Philippines. Before my PhD, I've worked at a risk management company in Norway to forecast the world's energy transition from now until 2050 (see https://eto.dnvgl.com) and am the founder of an advisory company (see www.dynamundo.com), which has the goal to promote the application of systems thinking to help policy makers and companies make better decisions in complex environments. The Russian explorer and painter Nicholas Roerich (check out his paintings!) serves as my inspiration. He believed that work purified our life, that a man must work and through the work he will solve his daily problems and move onto the next stage of evolution
I'm an alien monkey from a faraway galaxy—stranded on Earth. Unlike earthling monkeys, I don’t usually throw shit at people, so please don't do that in my house. However, I WILL give you shit if you're one of these: "I need a place to stay to save money while traveling" Here's a list of homeless shelters in Sydney: https://tinyurl.com/ytz8vtts "I love food / I'm a foodie / I want to try all the restaurants" I have zero interest in you as a person. "Let's go to a club / pub / dancing / drinking" No. "Hello beautiful soul / Good vibes" Please, detonate now. Anyone else, you can keep reading.
I will be making my first trip overseas since COVID happened. While my country was in lockdown I started learning Spanish to pass the time. But I wasn't consistent with the learning process. I decided to go to Colombia and Central America because I heard about them as most of my teachers were from these countries . I enjoy exercising, riding my bike, taking local transport, meeting locals, buying street food, immersing myself in the culture and going to local markets.

I’m an easy-going, free-spirited, open-minded, and positive person who loves to enjoy all the little (and big!) things life has to offer. Respectful and fun-loving by nature & always know my boundaries, I’m on my journey to explore new places, meeting new people, and creating lifelong connections along the way. I’m into sports, adventures, hiking, beaches, long drives, and pretty much anything that gets me outdoors or brings people together. I also love learning about different cultures, perspectives, and stories. I believe life becomes more interesting when we stay open and trust others — “a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.” CS, for me, is about those little acts of openness, kindness, and curiosity that turn simple moments into lasting memories. I’ve been living in Sydney for over 16years now, working as a software engineer. I’d like to think I’ve been here long enough to show you not just the tourist highlights, but also the hidden gems and local spots that make this city truly special.
CURRENT MISSION Looking at the list of Things I Have Always Said I Would Do One Day and saying, If not now, when?
I was born in China and moved to Australia when I was a kid. I lived in Melbourne for 8 years but am now settled in Sydney.
My name is Baqer. I am half Iranian half Iraqi and I moved to Australia six years ago. I always felt a bit out of place. My Iranian friends consider me an Iraqi and my Iraqi friends consider me an Iranian. In reality, my identity is formed at the intersection of multiple cultures which is great because it means I got to learn to cook more variety of foods. I take proud in my cooking skills. Interestingly, my favourite dish is neither Iranian or Iraqi. My favourite dish is the Spanish Paella. I love Paella because it is poor people's food (although Saffron is really expensive in Australia so I am not sure poor can afford it here). I have my own recipe for cooking Paella and it is finger licking good! At the moment, I am finishing my bachelor degree in Computer Science, and I work part time as a Software Developer. I fall in love with computers when we bought our first computer (80386 with MS-DOS 4.0). My favourite childhood game was Golden Axe that sadly I never get to finish! I love entrepreneurship and creating mobile apps. At the moment I am playing with few ideas and I want to create an app to teach foreign languages with a new method that is a bit different with conventional language learning apps. I love making healthy probiotic drinks. I brew my own Kombucha, Apple Cider Vinegar, water Kefir, milk Kefir, yoghurt, and cheese. If you are already familiar with Kombucha or Kefir, I have a feeling we will be pretty compatible. If not, you are going to either love it or hate it. But it is okay either way, I won't hold it against you.
I grew up in a small coastal city in Bangladesh which is the most amazing place I always prefer to stay. I have travelled most of the coastal villages during my study time and working time in an NGO. Later in 2009, I decided to continue my study in a multicultural environment, I moved to Germany, travelled and stayed many European cities. I moved to Sydney in 2012 and love Australia. I love nature and water. Facebook profile: https://www.facebook.com/mehdi.azam
Hey, I'm pretty laid back 🌈 and love checking out new cafes. On weekends, I'm either trying somewhere new, cooking at home, or catching up with friends. I've lived in Sydney for over 10 years now, so I know it well. During the day, I’m a product manager working on a payments platform in the education space. I travelled through Europe a while back and had a really good experience using Couchsurfing. It made travel feel more local and personal, which is something I still value. Hosting feels like a nice way to give back after the experiences I had travelling.
Charming smart intellectual young with historic inclinations i.e. mostly in roman greek and turkish sphere but knows everything about local cultural activities as well as those sportive ones. Kind. Gentle. Hospitable. Speaks well English Hosting anyone. I am happy, positive and I like you whoever you are! I really believe in peace and sustainable development. I think that one day all the people of this world will be citizen of one big nation without any kind of limit and border for their body and their minds. "A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it's not open" - Frank Zappa - Sometimes I think too much. Sometimes I am stupid. The most of the time I must move or I get crazy! Always I want to get surprised, because when you are shocked you assimilate more. Oh oh I was forgetting, I always try to find an explaination, that NEVER WORKS...NEVER. Universe doesn't have an explanation and probably it doesn't need one! We do! But that's funny anyway! Sometime I am so sensitive that you could kill me with a look, other so strong that you couldn't kill with a knife. I love to travel. Have traveled all of my own country from glaciers to deserts. Have visited USA, UK, UAE, Europe. Many upcoming adventures. I love meeting new people and learning the local cultures. Indoor helping around house is not a problem at all. Hope to gain and give a good time to people in my surroundings. Also i welcome any one coming to my country for a good time with me and family.
Traveling the world for three years. 2019 riding a bicycle through West Africa - Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, and onwards towards Ghana. Then a year on the beach in Ghana during Covid. I've been lucky enough to see Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Switzerland... Italy, Spain, Morocco... so eager to see more! I was able to stay with friends in most places and now I'm exploring new places with less contacts, like Africa. Eastern Europe. I studied ancient Sanskrit years ago, and currently I do fire twirling and love going to music festivals -especially psytrance direction. When I'm back in Australia I'll be hosting so the world can visit me :)
