CURRENT MISSION : Impossible ABOUT ME I'm from the UK originally, but have migrated all over and hold a NZ passport as well now. And some people say I'm nice. Others think I talk too much. To borrow someone else's profile; this section is too much like a job application, also many people in person are not as they appear online. Meet me and find out.
From Chile to New Zealand Hola, I'm Gaspar. Originally from Chile, but Aotearoa has been home for the last 12 years, and Wellington since 2017. I love this windy city for its character, creativity, and the good people in it. Work I work in Civil Defence, helping communities prepare for and respond to emergencies. Every now and then I'm part of a Rapid Response Team, and I've travelled a few times in recent years to help with floods in Australia and cyclone recovery across the Pacific. Past Work Over the years I've done a bit of everything: vineyards, painting, bakeries, construction, recycling, packing, picking, and plenty more. Every job taught me something about people and places. What I'm into (tinkering with tech and smart home projects, hosting casual get togethers, exploring the city, good food and conversation. Add whatever fits you here so travellers get a feel for you.) As a host Happy to share a bit of local knowledge, point you to the good spots most tourists miss, and have a relaxed chat over a coffee or a beer. Wellington's small but full of surprises, and I'm always keen to meet people passing through.
Heyyyy! I'm Gonzalo. -------- CURRENT MISSION ----------- I’m on my way back to Chile after living in Australia, trying to make the journey mostly overland. From Timor Leste I’ll continue through Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and finally across the Americas until reaching home. --------------------------------------------- I'm a traveler, a dentist back home in Chile, Handpoke Tattoo Artist. Over the years, I've lived in several countries such as: Spain, USA, Denmark, Germany, Australia and South Korea. I volunteered in Peru, deep in the Amazonas jungle at Parque Nacional Pacaya Samiria, helping build an Eco Lodge for a small community. I've also had unique experiences like working on a Goat farm in Ausserferrara, Switzerland, and spending time at a hostel in Dubrovnik, Croatia (which stole my heart) I discovered my passion for handpoke tattoos years ago while living in Denmark during the Corona times, and it's something I truly enjoy :) I also have experience as a barista, so I'd be happy to prepare some coffe! What I love the most about traveling is connecting with locals, immersing myself in their culture, trying new foods, enjoying music, and exploring the outdoors. (I love hiking and long walks) Always up for a coffee or a beer, you'll find I'm really easygoing ✌🏽
Studying Marine Sciences in Alicante (Spain), love travelling and DIVING. Now on my way to New Zealand to study for 5 months there! I'm interested to discover new places through the people who live on them; always trying to leave the best footprints anywhere I go :) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Estudio Ciencias del Mar en Alicante (España), me gusta viajar y bucear. De camino a Nueva Zelanda, donde estaré estudiando 5 meses! Estoy interesado en descubrir sitios nuevos a través de su gente; siempre intento dejar una marca positiva donde voy :)

CURRENT MISSION time spent together is never time wasted ABOUT ME love meeting people, travel, and getting inspired by beautiful things
I am easygoing person, allways with smile on my face:) I'm a forever young (at least in my heart:) I fell in love with travelling :) So I try to enjoy exploring new places and meet great people as often as I can:) I lived and travelled around New Zealand for 18 months from 2018 to 2020. But had to go back to CZ due to Covid. Since March 2022 I was based in Toronto, living another chapter of my life . That’s when I started to host travelers from all over the world. From June 2024 I was based in Canmore and spent wonderful 6 months living in beautiful Canadian Rockies. In December 2024 I moved back to New Zealand, but things didn’t go as planned 💔❤️🩹. So I decided to give myself a break from work and everything and since June 2025 was on 6months sabbatical. That time allowed me to travel a bit around and I was trying to find my true self and reshaping my view on life and where I wanna settle down and how that could look for me. And closing chapters on the way. And learning to surrender to life. Now I am back in New Zealand for a little while to close the chapter. Since I dont have a permanent home (just renting a room) , I don’t have space to host. But I’m more than happy to meet for a coffee/walk/chat or plan a weekend trip or something :)
ABOUT ME Down to earth, friendly, nature lover and I love fine arts as well.
Hi everyone. I'm from New Zealand and keen to travel outside my little corner of the world. Sure there's lots of great and interesting people out there. I can say a lot of things about myself, but to get an unbiased view read my references I have been on couchsurfing for for some time now as a host and as you can see from my references I have hosted a lot of people from many backgrounds and places, all of them amazing and wonderful people. If you are on couchsurfing for the right reasons I will welcome a request to stay with me after reading my whole profile and the section on my home
🌏 My Mission I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and culture from around the world. Learning about different cultures makes me happy and helps me understand people better. I always try my best to spread kindness and positivity wherever I go whenever possible. My life motto is to *seek discomfort*, getting out of my comfort zone, and hopefully travel the world someday. 🏡 About the House Just to make things clear — I live in the same house as my flatmate, Michael. He’s the owner of the house and is also on Couchsurfing. I'm also his guest student living in the same house as him. 🙋♂️ About Me I always believe that *A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.* I’m 26 years old and originally from a small town island in the Philippines. Currently, I live in Wellington, New Zealand, chasing my dream of becoming a storyteller and filmmaker. I’ve recently completed my Bachelor’s degree in Screen Arts and majoring in Film Production at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. I really value family and love learning about other cultures. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, walking, cycling, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, and running. 🇳🇿 Why I Chose New Zealand I first visited Wellington in 2019 when I won a filmmaking award in a smartphone film competition. I fell in love with the city’s creative vibe and amazing film industry — like Weta Workshop and the Lord of the Rings films! That experience inspired me to come back and study filmmaking here. 🎥 My Filmmaking Bio I am a Filipino filmmaker who moved to New Zealand to study film. My passion for filmmaking began after winning a smartphone filmmaking competition by the Goethe-Institut New Zealand and the Mobile Innovation Network and Association which involved a film workshop and world premiere screening in Wellington in 2019. My expertise is in cinematography but I have also directed short films on topics that tackle social issues such as poverty, climate change, mental health, and gender-based violence in the Philippines. My main focus as a filmmaker is sharing underrepresented voices. I see every work as my way to deliver a message that matters in my heart. I am a recent film student graduate from the College of Creative Arts (CoCA) at Massey University in Wellington, and has been named the winner of the Creative Excellence category at the Hui Mai, Tui Mai Wellington Educated International Student Excellence Awards. Originally from the Philippines, my work explores themes of identity, migration and belonging, giving voice to Filipino and migrant communities in New Zealand and beyond. My short films, including Rasyon, Arm Me For Peace and Wheels of Fate, have been featured in local festivals and university showcases, earning recognition for their emotional depth and technical mastery. My short film ‘Beyond Connection’ won the ‘Up to 24 Award’ at The Outlook for Someday 2023, now rebranded as Day One Hāpai te Haeata. My other short films have also screened and been nominated at Student World Impact Film Festival, New Zealand Youth Film Festival, JCS International Young Creatives Award, Sorok Short Film Festival and more. Recently, my recent documentary Wheels of Fate was awarded Best Documentary at the Bachelor of Screen Arts Best of Showcase. I completed my Screen Arts degree at Massey University, where I was involved as the cinematographer for ‘Sick Attraction’ and the director/cinematographer for my short documentary film 'Wheels of Fate.' My recent short documentary, Wheels of Fate, is a standout example of my craft. The film tells the story of how a passion for inline skating fosters community and belonging for an immigrant in New Zealand. This visually stunning work earned Best Documentary via the Take One: Bachelor of Screen Arts Showcase. Maybe only for those interested, I am happy to hopefully show you some of short films but we don’t need to- only to those anyone interested in film :) You can see some of my work here: 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/loyddoron 🎬 Portfolio Website: loyddoron.com ❤️ My Passion for Storytelling Storytelling keeps me going in life. It helps me make sense of life and inspires me to create positive change even in small acts. Besides filmmaking, I also enjoy badminton, hiking (I finished the Tongariro Crossing!), and connecting with people through the *Yes Theory* community — a group that inspires people to say “yes” to challenges and new experiences. 🌍 Connecting Through Yes Theory Being part of *Yes Theory* has changed my life. Their saying, *“A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet,”* inspires me every day to get out of my comfort zone. Through this community, I’ve met amazing people from all around the world who have become like family to me today. 🎙️My Personal Project: The Stranger Project I started a small video and podcast series called **The Stranger Project**, where I talk with people from different walks of life. It’s about learning what it means to be human — hearing people’s dreams, struggles, and passions. In each episode, we also use *Spark* cards from Yes Theory — special question cards that help us open up and connect deeply. If you’d like, I’d love to invite you to join me as a guest on my show and share your story with others!
ABOUT ME Friendly laid-back healthcare professional.
Hi, I'm Josh, I enjoy: - vegan food - cinema, photography, film making - art, literature, ideas - indie music, theatre - cycling, table tennis, badminton - ruminating on philosophy, love, meaning - going for long walks - dreaming, laughter! And I like sharing any of the above with my surfer visitors. I do need some time out (INFP) to recharge so please don’t be offended if I spend some time alone (especially if you’re staying more than one night). And I’m very happy for you to do your own quiet stuff too in between good chats.
Kiwi guy currently more than one year on the road, working while travelling. Love to eat, cook, hike, freedive, explore old towns and museums as well as beautiful nature. If you host me with a kitchen I would be more than thrilled to cook up a feast!
