⚠️ TRAVELLING / UNABLE TO HOST UNTIL LATE JULY 2026 ⚠️ Please read my home section. I live in suburban London, an okay commute to central London, and it has its perks! Stumning nature at your doorstep, and you could be in London and have just as long of a commute on the tube if you were going across London. If you want to see the real UK and have a bit of time, you are most welcome! It's also okay if you want to go to London for the day and back. CURRENT MISSION " The world is a book....those who don't travel read only one page " ---St. Augustine " It's never too late to have a happy childhood. " -- me, until I remember where I heard that from ABOUT ME PEOPLE TELL ME THAT I AM: Tall, encouraging, motivating, a blast to hang out with, a good problem-solver, a great sense of humour, dangerously addicted to plane tickets. PEOPLE CALL ME WHEN THEY WANT/NEED ME TO: Help them find their next plane ticket, solve their latest life crisis, pull a practical joke on someone, or play/sing for their next party, go on some ridiculously spontaneous adventure. PEOPLE TELL ME THAT I SOUND LIKE I: Grew up in California. Did. Work in radio. Did, and sometimes still do. Can't get enough of travelling. Yep. PHILOSOPHY "Someday: the disease that takes your dreams to your grave." --T. Ferris, from "The 4-Hour Work Week" "I'd rather fight You for something I don't really want then to take what You give that I need" --Rich Mullins "Live your life in such a way that, if you found out you were going to die of a terminal disease in six months, you'd have no regrets and wouldn't do anything differently." --my mom. In 2016 I sat across a desk from a doctor and was told that, due to the severity of cancer I had growing within me, I would have six months at the most to live. I'm still here! I owe that to the incessant positivity I inherited from my mom . At the time the doctor told me that, the only thing left on my life's bucket list was to bungee jump from the highest point in New Zealand (a place I had always wanted to see) so I booked a ticket. I loved it so much I jumped 3 times from the Nevis Bungy in Queenstown. With cancer, it's not just about surviving, it's LIVING!! My mother suddenly died of cancer just before I moved to London. I inherited that same form of cancer from her, and so it was a sobering reminder that I will die of it someday as well, and I need to think about how I'm living my life, and what I'm leaving behind. Her funeral wasn't really a "funeral" at all of how she died, but a celebration of how she lived. As the place filled with people, standing room only--I was stunned to see all the lives she touched, from near and far, from recently and long ago, and from all walks of life. All had amazing stories of the positive difference she made in their lives. What kind of person goes out like that? She always said that she wanted to live her life in such a way that, if she found out today she'd die of cancer next week, she wouldn't change a thing. That's actually how she died... and that's actually how she lived. It's pretty inspiring, I'd say. My best way of thanking her for all she did for me is to embrace life like she did. She made so many people feel at home in her heart... I strive to do likewise.
A few words to summarise me: Introvert; academic; engineer; scientist; atheist; animal lover; third culture kid; eccentric; INTJ/INTP. Outgoing introvert who prefers deep conversations rather than small talk. Sometimes I can be very quiet, though I have an active mind. I enjoy moments of silence with others where I can just feel their energy, without feeling pressured to talk. I love to connect with people's authentic selves. I have a special connection with animals 🐾🐶🐱, and I also like nature 🌳 , science🔬, photography 📷, board games, bouldering (indoor climbing), nights out, nights in, long walks, documentaries, people-watching, unconventional minds, comfortable silence (this one is a big deal for me). I am somewhat eccentric! :D My ins: @wijm02 I am a third culture kid who grew up in London (and I still live there) but my origins are in Sri Lanka. I am not religious. I did my PhD at Imperial College London, and now I'm a software engineer. I also do some freelance pet sitting! When I do pet sitting, I often have to stay overnight with other people's pets! IMPORTANT NOTES: - My place is in Zone 3 and it is 30 minutes from central London (Zone 1). If you want to stay in the city centre, it will be difficult to find a host, but there are some reasonably priced hostels. - I am a pescatarian and not a meat eater. I'm the only one in my family who does not eat meat so you're welcome to eat meat in my home. - Couples/pairs: If you're part of a couple or pair, I will only host if both of you have active Couchsurfing profiles. Please send me your partner's/friend's profile. I will only host people who have a CS profile. - I do not sponsor visas. Last updated: May 2026

Hello! I am Italian and I work as scientific researcher in Academia. I am down to earth and a spontaneous guy. I like to smile for, and to enjoy, small and simple things that make happy the daily life. CURRENT MISSION To meet people of different cultures, thoughts and behaviours. To face and share habits of different cultures allows everyone to be more open-mind and to appreciate many aspects of the life without prejudices. SURFERS PLEASE READ - ‘REFERENCES’ I have been often told that I spoil surfers who stay at my home. This is indeed correct, as I consider the people I select to host as friends and part of my family during their stay with me. It would be therefore appreciated if you, next surfer of my couch. will leave a reference within the 14-day window that the site allows for doing so. This would be a polite gesture which some surfer ‘forgot’. Please, remember that surfers read always the references to a host in the Surfers’ section, and usually not those in the ‘Personal’ section. Your timely reference will be of great help to surfers - and to you who will be the next surfer - to select the next host. Why am I writing this? Because many references in the ‘Personal’ section are written by surfers I have hosted who have let the 14-day window (to leave their reference) expire; they wrote it afterwards in the ‘Personal’ section. Thus, please take a look at the references surfers wrote for me in both the ‘Surfers’ and ‘Personal’ sections of my profile. SURFERS PLEASE READ - ‘MY HOME’ If you are requesting to surf my couch, please read and understand the ‘What I can share with my guests’ and ‘Additional information’ sections under ‘My Home’. ABOUT ME I am open minded and interested in meeting people from different cultures, genders, ways of thinking, for real, genuine, honest and transparent friendship. Quality matters over quantity for me, since I was teenager. I am motivated to learn from others and to share experiences I had in my life. If you really need to classify me in a box, then I am a straight guy. I have to add that no one of my friends (guys, girls, gays, bisex, straights) have any issue when they receive from me big and sincere hugs. Also, I am nudist/naturist (my family and friends know it), and I am nude both at home (when temperature allows) and in the natural environment, usually in spring/summer. However, I am not an extremist and I adapt to the wish to the guest(s) and of the host(s), as I believe in sharing when people feel and not imposing my habits if someone does not feel so. I love to go to the beach and to skinny dipping, to explore new cities and to dive into different cultures to see how people really live. I love to sing and to play guitar although I am not able to read tabs, and I love to take care of children. I love to speak deeply and to smile and laugh with people, to look into the eyes when speaking, and to appreciate the small and simple things and details in life. Also, I like to share the space with a friend/mate for working together, eating together, laughing together, and being naked together without barrier and judgements (only if shared; please, note that I am not an exhibitionist). And, last but not least, I am an idealistic person, and I love to help people whenever I have a chance to do so. Communication is important for me. As host, I prioritize requests from surfers who stay in contact from the time they send a request. This helps me to get to know a bit the person I would potentially inviting into my home. If I investing time to communicate with your host is too much effort, please do not send a couch request but look into booking a hotel/hostel o ask to another host. If you look different compared to the photos on your profile, it means to me that you want to hide who you really are, and I will not host you - even if we are meeting on the same day in which I agree to host you. I only host fully transparent people. PHILOSOPHY To respect people for what they are; I am open minded with people who have different points of view with respect to thoughts and lifestyles. I think that to know different cultures allows to appreciate the small things that make this life better. I love to travel, discover and visit new places and to be in the nature. Whenever I have the possibility to do so, I prefer to explore places with not many tourists, in order to enjoy the beauty of the non contaminated nature. I will then take off my clothes as natural habit.
I used to have a bunch of crap in this part of my profile and would read this after a few years and hated what I wrote so I changed it constantly. I'm an Argentine expat, who recently moved to beautiful and hectic London. I am not a local here, but if I have time I can show you my favorite spots :) Although I work in Finance, I am a musician and music fills my soul. I am a vegetarian who loves cooking and even more eating. Love being lost in nature or walking down a very busy street, as well as sharing a glass of wine, drinking mate or watching a movie on my couch.
Insta: @AdamTahero I am a big big traveller, visited 83 countries now! I have just been to the other side of the world throughout the pandemic. What was meant to be a few months' holiday in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand led me to 3 years abroad amidst the pandemic. I got stuck in New Zealand for over 2 years, and it changed my life for the good! After 3 years away, I am making my way back home and excited to see Europe and places in the UK again after such a long time abroad. I love travelling beyond anything, and the best part of it for me is meeting all the amazing people along the journey! I have so many crazy stories to share and love listening to others! I am pretty chilled and laid back and spontaneous. I really just enjoy having a good time, whether alone or with others, and I can be pretty independent but equally always up for sharing good times and tagging along with people with good energy! Before my crazy travels, I graduated in Statistics and Information Systems and worked in marketing and management at my previous university. My main job was outreach and helping disadvantaged children fulfil their potential, e.g., those with disabilities, lower income backgrounds, and we help them consider going to university. I get so excited when I travel and meet new people, and I feel I can get along with people from all walks of life. Please ask for more! Always happy to help out in anyway I can, love animals too, so if you have any that's always a bonus, especially cats and I can look after them or take them for a walk if needed!
CURRENT MISSION Accomplishing ABOUT ME Aspiring film director, directed first feature - a no budget car documentary. Currently writing epic film script. PHILOSOPHY Buddhist Vegetarian
I'm Canadian but have lived in England for 10 years, and lived in Spain as an au pair when I was 18. I’m a charity worker (neurodiversity) and am doing a degree in environmental studies. I have recently found a love for vegetable gardening and saving seeds, and am teaching myself how to sew! My other hobbies include yoga/pilates, cooking, travelling, impulsively get tattoos I can’t afford, and finding new restaurants! I’m quite introverted but I’m always up for a beer or a tinto de verano and won’t stop talking once I start😂🍻
CURRENT MISSION See The Northern Lights at least once in my life ABOUT ME The cat who walks by himself - I want to, but I don't. Can be the life and soul, but can be like a nervous, handwringing teenager at times too. I laugh a lot, but I can also be serious. I can usually be persuaded to stay up talking into the small hours even on a school night. I'm a mass of contradictions like most people. Oh yes, and I'm a staunch Remainer. I think Brexit is going to be a catastrophe and Boris Johnson (our now thankfully ex-Trumpian clown of a Prime Minister)was the greatest charlatan this country could conjure up in our moment of greatest need. I might therefore despair at you about the current state of UK politics, so if you're politically on the right you might not want to stay with me!!! You have been warned! PHILOSOPHY Easy to write something really trite here: um, expect the unexpected? Sometimes. The great British public are sadly very predictable. But there is always hope..... "If you work really hard and are kind amazing things will happen." (Thanks to Andrew Green for summarising my personal mantra better than I ever could) "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." (Dr Samuel Johnson) "The best form of revenge is to live well." (Tania Kindersley)
PLZ CALL ME Chengyuan (Think "Chain + UN", but smoother), Antoine (An-two-one) or Yusuf (يوسف) — pick your favourite! 🙏 Swear to God, if someone calls me Anthony, I’ll freak out 😅 I started my first solo trip around Western Europe at 18. Since then, moved to the UK in 2022 — and to keep exploring the world. My biggest dream is to quit 😇 Easygoing, open-minded, chill, up for good conversation (bonus points if it's about movies or random life craps). 🎥 Movie nerd — 1000+ films later, still not tired. 🎹 Ex-pianist — 10+ years, retired only because I don’t own a piano anymore (plotting my comeback with some weird regional instrument). ⚽ Football fan (Barça!) — can’t play after a bad injury, but I love watching matches, especially in stadiums or noisy pubs. ✈️Most Importantly: Low budget travel and local style ; ——— Ground rules for hosting ——— A few ground rules (so we both enjoy the experience): 0. If your visit involves cinema/theatre/art, definitely shout out — I might just say yes immediately. 1. Speak basic English/French— otherwise we’ll just smile at each other politely. 2. This is not a free hotel. Hang out, talk, cook, walk, exchange stories — that’s the whole point. 3. Respect the house rules and each other’s privacy. 4. Secret code so I know you read this: “Antoine est magnifique.” 5. Be open-minded, respectful, and a decent human being. Also, spend a bit of time digging my profile and surprise me with your message — I don’t reply to copy-paste requests. 6. If you just need a place to work, sleep, and disappear, Couchsurfing might not be what you’re looking for.
I am originally Sri Lankan and a naturalised Canadian. I am currently based in Greater London most of the year, and in China approximately two months of the year. I was born and raised in Galle, and have lived in Colombo, near Washington DC, in downtown Toronto, and in Pisa before moving to the Greater London area. I am a researcher conducting research in theoretical mathematics. Apart from the research work, I like to read and travel. I am also an amateur photographer. I have had the chance to travel to many countries and cities because of my research work. I used my work trips to explore different countries and cultures.
