CURRENT MISSION Building an off grid paradise on Maui. ****PLEASE ****read the “My Home” section (tab above) before making a request thanks ABOUT ME I used to be a political activist, but now I'm just focused on growing and learning about everything that interests me. I recently purchased 12 acres on the north shore of Maui with a stream and a waterfall and swimming hole. I’m building some off grid cabins and I could use some help so if you’re interested in being a part of the process let me know about yourself and what what talents you can bring. PHILOSOPHY Any belief you refuse to question is likely false. Especially if the media is concerned. Too many people are trained by the media to be scared of life. Life is a gift we should enjoy to the fullest, not an excuse to fear that which is different. I also am convinced that "science" is the new dogmatic religion used to enslave our consciousnesses. I am not anti-science. I just don't believe modern science practices what it proclaims to preach.
Before sending a request please read my entire profile. I realize this new app and website are difficult to navigate, but hosting someone takes time and energy, so it is not too much to expect prospective guests to put a few minutes of effort into reading a profile no matter how bad the CS platform is. Please let me know why you want to stay in my home (and not with another host) and what you plan on doing on Maui. My house is currently on the market, so it must be kept clean for prospective buyers. Therefore, the stove cannot be used (there is a toaster oven and microwave) and only the outdoor shower can be used (it has hot water).
Aloha, I'm Jess! California native through and through, currently living in Lahaina, Maui for the moment (and loving every second of island life). I grew up under the California sun and still carry that West Coast energy with me — easygoing, outdoor-obsessed, and always down for good conversation over coffee, tacos, or a sunset. Moving to Maui has been an adventure: mornings with the ocean, afternoons exploring, and nights under those ridiculous Hawaiian stars. Lahaina has a special place in my heart, and I’m happy to share local tips, favorite spots, or just good company while you’re here. I’m the kind of host who believes the best travel moments come from real connections. Whether you want recommendations for the best poke, a quiet beach, or just someone to swap stories with after a long day of exploring, I’ve got you. I’m respectful of space and privacy, tidy, and genuinely enjoy meeting people from all over. Looking forward to sharing a bit of Maui (and maybe a little California spirit) with you. Safe travels, and hope to host you soon!
I live in Hawaii on Maui. I wear a few different but interconnected hats for work. Carpentry, beekeeping and recreation therapy have weaved themselves together making me a self-employed happy man. I have traveled in many countries and met many wonderful people in my journeys. I trust in the goodness of life and in people, knowing that the energy I give to the world is what I receive. Aloha permeates all :)

Love to travel and meet new people!
I am retiring at the end of this year 2026. So next year I would like to explore different parts of the world. Teaching Health to 7th graders is my current role but previously I was a co-teacher (supporting Sped Students) for Enlgish Language Arts and Social Studies here on Maui, Hawaii. I’ve been with the Department of Education since 2009 and it provided me time to travel now and then with my family, especially during the summer and winter breaks. You will note that in one of my pictures, my son Logan and wife Mimi are with me. This photo was taken in Firenze during the summer of 2026. We did this particularly trip because my niece (my wife’s sister’s daughter) from Japan was one of the top violinists and was invited by Italy to perform in Venice. Of course, we had to go and support her. Though I must admit I didn’t anticipate gaining so much weight…about 3 kilos. Hey, if you belly aching with laughter, I get it, but for a skinny guy like myself this is a lot of weight. lol. Other than that, I enjoy doing yoga, some kettle bells and walking around the neighborhood. I can cook simple things but nothing too fancy. Perhaps, I should take a class or two or do a whole a bunch of couchsurfing. Perhaps, I’ll get the groceries, I’ll assist you in cooking, and we’ll hopefully eat something good or great together. Of course, I’ll wash the dishes. I do enjoy socializing but I admit sometimes my social battery doesn’t last too long… it really depends, and I like slow easy going mornings unless there is some mission that day, being active in the morning, an afternoon nap or afternoon coffee or matcha, and a relaxing bath or shower in the evening.
CURRENT MISSION Happy Happy, Joy Joy! ABOUT ME I'm a fun lovin', guitar strummin', happy faced, straight laced, backward bendin', garden tendin',........I think thats enough of that.I'm 45 years old, live on Maui where I own and operate a tree trimming business, hike in the forest, climb rocks, and spend many waking hours playing guitar, singing, and generally obsessing over music. I think life is just a ride, and we are all creating our own experience (either consciously or unconsciously) which is why I do my best to remain optimistic and calm and talk about my hopes and dreams over worries and fears. If you host me, you can expect good conversation, music, good organic food, quiet in the night and early morning, and lots of laughter (unless you don't like to laugh in which case we are not a match). PHILOSOPHY We are here to enjoy life! The more we do things we love, the greater gift we give to our community and the world. Life is just a ride, so it's best not to stress. Everyone is essentially good, but sometimes we get clouded by negative thoughts and emotions that we learn from our families, friends, and the media, so its important to surround ourselves with people and situations that make us feel hopeful, inspired, creative, loving, and joyful!
Lost my job in Hawaii
I live in central Wailuku and I used to work for a tv station but now i build and repair espresso machines. I love museums and history of all kinds. Im just trying to enjoy life and i love to travel. no couples please . im looking for someone special to host, i only host once every couple months because i try to make sure my guest has the best time on maui!
Aloha Kalino here My current mission: Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one. Moreover, Im hooked on surfing , hiking and anything around nature. I love meeting with people from around the world, hearing about their unique journey, making new friends, living with new experiences and sharing our perspective of life. Mostly, I like hugs over handshakes! To my fellow travelers hosting is uncertain But if the time is right, I provide a safe and relaxing environment as well as some guidance and tips during your stay in Maui. The exchange is simply a happy smile and the hopes that Maui left you something special to carry you on the next journey. But If you like to participate in the tradition that is to treat me for a coffee and croissant ; ,that would touch my heart haha Travelers !! Let’s keep the culture of couch surfing. While I love to meet and help everyone , it’s important that I also have to take care of my personal life. I tend to receive 12 plus request a week and it gets hard to get back to everyone. So please Don’t take it personal if I don’t respond. Moreover, I truly appreciate those that write thoughtful message of who they are. Mahalo
Hi everyone... I’m a simple, positive, open minded, and easy going person who loves to laugh and enjoy life. My daughter lives with me part time so I’m VERY picky about my guests. We have hosted A LOT of travelers and have connected with some really amazing people. My daughter Lily has been inspired to travel the world as a result of hosting so many international travelers. Clear communication is really important to me, so if you have questions about me or my home…Please ask! I look forward to sharing this amazing island with you.... ~Aloha ~😎🌴☀️🐋🌈🐢🐚
I am a board certified physician assistant from Michigan, USA. I am currently living in Hawaii 🌺 *** Unfortunately, I do not have the capacity to host and I have never hosted before. *** Most of my experience on couch surfing has been as a traveler and I’ve met the most wonderful people. I’m grateful for this app and how it’s connected me with others over the years.
