Hi, I'm Ian! I recently arrived at a turning point in my life and I'm spending some time travelling while I figure out what I want to do next. I'm passionate about exploring alternative ways of living, and I'm hoping to spend a lot of my time travelling outside mainstream society, in communes, ecovillages, religious communities, tribes, etc. I recently organised a conference about communal living in the UK: www.braziers.org.uk/ukcomcon I'm also really interested in philosophy and in mental health and illness, which I studied at university.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I'm a strong believer in community and co-operation, and I like to share any extra living space I happen to have. I also like to meet the locals when I'm travelling, as I think it's one of the best ways to understand a new place. I have had visitors from all over the world: England, Ireland, Scotland, the USA, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Romania, Slovakia and Canada. Once I hosted a 5-piece rock band, plus their crew!
Musique, films et livres
I like most types of music, but my desert island disks might be something like this: Chvrches: Neverending Circles The National: Graceless The Incredible String Band: The Hedgehog Song Bonaparte: Boycott Everything Leonard Cohen: So Long Marianne Nina Simone: Sinnerman Book: Leaves of Grass Film: Boyhood

Enseigner, apprendre, partager
It's always great to meet someone who can share a bit of their language, or show me a new card or board game, or a dance or song, or anything else at all really; whatever you've got to teach, I'll take it! I read a lot of poetry and might have some good recommendations if that's your thing. If I'm hosting I could also teach you to unicycle.
