ABOUT ME I live with Colin. We have a house with a big yard, 2 cats, and chickens. We also have a young daughter. We like gardening, biking, hiking and other outdoor activities, and also sitting around and having a beer. We both work regular hours and our evenings are mellow. PHILOSOPHY I don't know if I have a specific philosophy, other than treating people with kindness and respect most of the time, and appreciating a simple life. I consider myself an environmentalist and a social democrat, except for when I am not.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING We host people when we can, and couchsurf when we travel. It's been lots of fun! This area is popular for bike tours, mountain biking, hiking, and of course, skiing in the winter. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE First experience was down the Oregon Coast in 2007. Subsequently, I have couchsurfed in BC, the USA, Alberta, Quebec, India, and Greece. I love hosting and surfing!
Musique, films et livres
I love reading and every year I try to read the long list of the Canada Reads selections. It's a great way to get exposed to books I might not otherwise choose!
Une chose incroyable que j'ai faite
We biked across South Korea in fall 2019 following the 4 Rivers Trail. It was a fun trip! The extra challenge was doing it with a 2 year old. She loved it though! I lived in Indonesia for a year and south India for about 6 months, both were very interesting (and sometimes challenging) experiences. Colin and I went on a short trip to Japan in the fall of 2016 and overall it was pretty amazing, especially the hot springs and public baths!
Enseigner, apprendre, partager
We took a hiatus from being active couchsurfers when we expanded our family. Now we are giving it a try again. Overall we have had wonderful experiences with couchsurfers both as hosts and guests.
Ce que je peux offrir à mes hôtes
Usually some food, coffee, tea; though it's good if guests bring their own food, especially if staying for longer than one night. We can recommend bike trails, restaurants and bars, and tell you how to get to some local hot springs. I usually prefer surfers who take an interest and want to get to know their hosts a bit, though sometimes if I am busy it's convenient if guests just use their room like a hotel and are fully self-sufficient. Good communication usually can ensure we are on the same page for this.
