Generosity is an undervalued virtue these days. The draw of traveling to me isn't just sight-seeing. It's understanding a culture, understanding what people value, and how they perceive what's important. I want to participate in the CS project by hosting travelers and giving them the chance to understand the culture of the area. Whether that's through coffee, drinks at the pub, or a hike, is up to that person. CouchSurfing experiences are generally the highlights of traveling (whether through CS or not). The best experiences are random meetings with locals and invitations to join them in their homes or to celebrate with them.
