I think the best way to learn about a culture is to interact directly with the people, and that's why Couchsurfing exists ! I want to meet new people and discover parts of countries that I would never have discovered if it wasn't from my hosts !
Musique, films et livres
I listen to a lot of music, going from metal and jazz to classical. I also enjoy going to music festivals and concerts. The first thing I'll do when going to your town is probably lookup the upcoming concerts !

If you have a piano and you don't know how to play, I can definitely show you the basics ! And if you want to learn a couple of words and expressions in French, I am also your man !
