When I was 12 years old. I biked from Castricum to Gemert in one day. My friend, (the same guy who I was living with in Amsterdam) lived in Castricum and at the end of our bikeholiday we ended in his village. So after spending a weekend with him and his friends I had to go home. Taking the train was one option, but I decided to take the chance and start biking. After 12 hours of bike ride and 200 km further south I arrived home. The last 30 km I had to stand on the pedals because my ass was hurting to much. It was 24 years ago, no internet for the route, no gps. Just ask people and following the signs that are next to the road. I think, maybee that was the born of my traveling bug.
