Howdy! I’m CJ, and I’m Deaf. I recently moved from Texas to Michigan and teach both high school and community college. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me working on projects around the house and yard or out exploring. I love anything outdoors—camping, hiking, backpacking, and lake days are my kind of thing. I’m also getting into mountain biking and always looking for new trails to ride.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
My friend Sarah from California introduced me to Couchsurfing, and I was immediately awestruck by the sense of community. I joined right away and have met some incredible people since then. I became part of this community to meet new people, travel, and share adventures. I’d love to host and connect with fellow Couchsurfers who are fluent in ASL, whether through hosting, traveling, or simply sharing experiences along the way.
Musique, films et livres
My top three movies of all time: The Crow, Secondhand Lions, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I don’t have a favorite music genre, but I do enjoy a good bass from time to time. I like reading books about Deaf culture, sign language history, and Deaf history.
Une chose incroyable que j'ai faite
I can’t pick just one—skydiving, cliff jumping, and bungee jumping are all up there!
Enseigner, apprendre, partager
I can teach American Sign Language and share insights about Deaf culture, simple home-cooked meals, and my love for outdoor adventures. I’m always eager to learn about different cultures, languages, and local hidden gems—especially since I’m new to Michigan and looking for great hiking, biking, and camping spots. I enjoy sharing stories from my adventures, swapping Netflix recommendations, and discovering off-the-beaten-path places to explore.
