NYE 2016 in Charleston

Hey fellow surfers, I'll be driving from Florence, SC to meet up with my parents who are flying in for NYE in Charleston. I've already got us a place near downtown, but now I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best thing to do. There are so many options when I start looking! Anyone have experience with the popular hits (Yorktown, Rose Ball, etc..)? Any unique events that are less public (and less expensive haha)? Thanks guys, I really do appreciate any info you may have!

It really depends on the experience you want! Covers at the best bars will be very high ($25-50+) and extremely packed (think 4 rows deep at the bar).

I've experienced the Yorktown ball along with the Snyder Grand Ball at the Aquarium and both events, I felt, were worth the money. I enjoyed the York town much better because it wasn't as packed. They had great music on multiple tiers of the ship, hot snacks frequently, and there was never a line at the pop-up bars (which is paid for in the ticket pricing). The Snyder ball was a blast too, but was more crowded. Not sure if this helps at all, but I'd also recommend looking at where to eat for brunch the morning after :P
