Backpacking in May!!

Hi! I will have some time in May to go on a couple of quick backpacking/camping jaunts through Northern California after May 15th! I am planning to fer sure visit Point Reyes for a short backpacking trip (2-3 days). I would like to go on at least one other expedition, probably to the Redwoods or Desolation Wilderness.

I'd love input from Native Californians (I know nothing about the outdoors in this area) and I'm also looking for backpacking buddies! My plans are totally up in the air for one more week, but after that I'll have to make sure I have everything in order (permits and such)... so hit me up soon if you'd like to join me or have good ideas! I don't have a car so I'm planning to rent/borrow/hitchhike.

Hey there! Any luck with your trip planning ? I head up that way all the time with out a car. I just wing it and camp out gorilla style. : )

Guess I should have said that I'm doing a trip up this way at the same time as your trip. I guess I'm considered a Native Californian and know these wilderness areas pretty well with knowledge of what to look out for. I have friends up that way and places to crash.

Mt Tam is one of my hang out spots and there are always places to see that most people don't check out. I go for a natural phenomenon that occurs during this week that's worth checking out, but I won't say here what that is, yet you can ask. All the best on your trip!
