Moving to IC?

Hello community,

I'm considering moving to Des Monies! Please tell me what you consider the pros and cons of the area.

A litte about myself, that would be relevant:

I get around by walking, bus, and biking.

I'm a civil rights activist.

I'm LGBTQ.

I'm adventurous and cheap.

The jobs I'll be looking for will be cleaning, and toolcat/ skid steer/ excavator work.

You're reply doesn't have to be related to me, though. It can be about what you think of the area without all that.

Based on your couch surfing request, I'm assuming this question is geared towards the Iowa City area, so I'll speak to that a bit. It's a college town, so plenty of progressives and political activists, art, and entertainment. The bus lines are pretty good down there, as well, so that would fit your needs well. The downtown area is fairly compact and bikeable, though a bit hilly. I'd imagine you should be able to find a job in your line of work. Housing prices are steeper, but that's about the only drawback.
