Temporary Housing

Hi Couchsurf world!

My partner and I will be moving to the Lake Placid area in August and leaving November 1. So far we have had no luck finding housing without it being at least a one year lease.

We have a very trained and well behaved Border Collie, and both have excellent personal and professional references.

We are open to Lake Saranac and the outskirts of both of those towns as well. We don't need anything bigger than a studio apt. Furnished would be awesome but not a must.

Any suggestions for two reliable, honest mountain lovers with a great dog who are in need of housing for 3 months?

Housing is very hard to find in this area, since it's in the middle of the Adirondack Park. Most of it is set up for tourism (hotels, motels, B&Bs, rental cabins, etc.), or, as you have already discovered, the owners are looking for a long term lease. My house is probably too small for a couple with a collie - although collies are ABSOLUTELY my favorite breed of dog! -- but I'm 50 miles from Lake Placid, and further still from Saranac Lake. You might try the advertised rentals in the Plattsburgh area - since the area is so remote, you can occasionally find local rentals through newspapers etc in the nearest "metro" area - which, for Lake Placid, would probably be Plattsburgh.
