What are some interesting places near Punta Cana?

I won a trip to a resort in Punta Cana. I'll be going some time next year, no set dates yet. I'm the kind of person who likes adventure and to explore new places, so I would like to go off the resort a bit. My interests include history and photography. Any local recommends?

Hello,

If you enjoy history and photography, I definitely would suggest taking a full day tour where you go visit the capital city of Santo Domingo. Take a tour of the Colonial Zone, the fortress and visit the home of Christopher Columbus. On the way there, you can also stop in a town called Higuey to visit the famous iglesia (church). This would give you an opportunity to indulge in both history and great photo ops. I hope this helps.

You guys can visit " Montaña redonda", Miches , Macao , Los corales, for party I recomend you "Coco Bongo" show and disco. Also "El Kan" for local dominican music. Our popular drink is MAMAJUANA. For eat try "Mofongo" and Sancocho"... All those places near to bavaro, punta cana. I hope that helps!
