Advice/Suggestions regarding apts and housing

Hi Couchsurfers, My boyfriend and I just completed a week long road trip from York, PA to SLC. We have an airbnb for a week in the 9th & 9th area and hope to find a place to live in that week. We've been looking on Craigslist and KSL, and have a few feelers out but would love suggestions if anyone knows of any available rental properties.

Club 90 is a good steelers bar. It's an interesting place but good people. It's in Sandy.

I agree with the comment above. Sugar house, Downtown, and the Avenues are more expensive but also very convenient as you are close to many shops and restaurants. I used to live in an affordable apartment in the Avenues right next to a local coffee shop called Cafe on 1st, you might want to check it out. Cottonwood Heights is also nice if you enjoy skiing/snowboarding/hiking etc. If you don't mind the commute, check out Murray or Midvale or Centerville (North of SLC) and surrounding areas. Thanks for your responses, we're still hunting. SLC is definitely unlike any other city I've ever lived in...

Next question and it might be a long shot...

Are there any Steeler bars in SLC???

The 9th and 9th area is nice. But a bit expensive. I think most areas around Sugarhouse to the Avenues are a bit more expensive. Depends on your work location, Murray and Midvale might be good alternatives.

My wife and I moved here last year and live in the sugarhouse area. We love it, everything is so convenient. A steelers bar? Why would you want that?

Sugarhouse is a really fun area! If your crafty you can find a cheaper place to live. It's a bit cheaper when you look towards Liberty Wells (South of Liberty Park). I wouldn't want to get too close to state street (if my mental car is headed west).

Also, look for little apartments mingled in with the neighborhood of choice! SLC's strategy has been to mingle apartments all over the city instead of having one apartment area, or huge apartment complex areas. That means you can find some good deals in quadplexes and duplexes if you watch for them, and they will be on a normal house block. These are usually owned by locals, so looking for signs with phone numbers is a good option, as well as looking on ksl.com.

I really like Sugarhouse personally for its bohemian feel, but if I wanted things a little fancier I would look at Cottonwood Hights, which would be close to hiking/climbing/canyons, but that area is usually more expensive than SH.

Hi Sara! We ended up finding a place around 9th & 9th for a super reasonable price. It took a lot of searching though, a lot of super small places for a lot of money.
