Its incendiary nightlife scene may have catapulted this small Balearic island to fame, but Ibiza has plenty to offer away from the dancefloor, and recently it has been busily reinventing itself as a holiday destination for more than just the lager louts. Its more artistic offerings are all centred around the fortified upper town (D’Alt Vila), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, made up of exceptionally well-preserved narrow streets, hulking Renaissance parapets and stern watchtowers.
