After a lot of deliberation (and some serious procrastination) I'm happy to announce that the first CouchCrash in Galician history will finally take place in A Coruña in 2024 from August 8-11. As you'll see, we planned only two main events on Friday and Saturday to give you a bit of time for a swim, a siesta and a shower in the late afternoon, prior to meeting up again in the evening. So without further ado, here's the updated schedule.. 1️⃣ (Thu, Aug 8) The 'early birds’ can enjoy a traditional dinner at one of the best Pulpeiras in town, and try our famous Pulpo á Feira (grilled octopus), accompanied by Cachelos (boiled potatoes served with the octopus seasoning), and the equally-renowned Pimentos de Padrón (our local and mostly fairly mild green peppers). If you feel like joining us for dinner, please let us know a few days ahead because if there's quite a lot of us, we may need to reserve. As it stands, we'll meet at 'Pulpeira de Lola La Antigua de Melide' (Ronda de Outeiro 135) at 8:30. Following dinner we'll head to the nearby Santa Margarita Park to see an Afro-psychedelic band from Soweto called BCUC, followed by popular Andalusian flamenco-electronic outfit Chambao for FREE as part of our annual 'Noroeste Music Festival’. If that's not your cup of sangria however, feel free to check out the festival's program to make your own 'music plans'. https://festivalnoroesteestrellagalicia.com 2️⃣ (Fri, Aug 9) At 11am we’ll meet at the 'Monumento a los Héroes del Orzan' (between Riazor and Orzan beach) to walk a few kilometres of A Coruña's 13+km 'Paseo Marítimo', (the longest urban seaside promenade in Europe). We'll also visit the ‘Torre de Hércules’ (the world’s oldest fully-functioning lighthouse), and have a fabulous seafood lunch in the Ciudad Vieja. We'll meet at 8pm at l'Obelisco (Calle Nova 2) to go for dinner, followed by some drinks in town, Later we’ll head for Riazor Beach to see UK indie electronic band Crystal Fighters at midnight. 3️⃣ (Sat, Aug 10) At 11am we’ll meet at the 'Monumento a los Héroes del Orzan' to visit the 'Mirador de Monte de San Pedro'. We'll walk around the hillside park and enjoy breath-taking views of the city as well as the 'Costa da Morte', and have tapas in the nearby Los Rosales area. We'll meet at 8pm at l'Obelisco (Calle Nova 2) to go for dinner, followed by some drinks in town. Then we’ll head for Riazor Beach to catch one of the closing concerts of the 'Noroeste Music Festival' and dance the night away in the city’s infamous Monte Alto district. 4️⃣ (Sun, Aug 11) We’ll meet at midday at the 'Bus Station' (Calle Caballeros 21) to go on another coastal walk, this time just outside of the city, from the neighbouring town of Santa Cristina to the charming seaside castle of Santa Cruz where we’ll enjoy a 'Farewell Picnic' together.
