It's a shame, because Cleveland is such an amazing city! It's full of delicious food, vibrant culture, interesting architecture and art, beautiful parks, and mostly importantly... CLEVELANDERS! We invite you to come check out "the Mistake on the Lake" and learn how awesome the city really is. WHO IS COMING: Couchsurfers from near and far! We will be opening our collective couches and guestrooms to travelers from the world over. WHAT IS HAPPENING: A fun-filled weekend for anyone living here or visiting. We'll be showing off our favorite parts of Cleveland: hidden gems, excellent food and beer, all the little things that make the city great. There's far too much to see and do during a single weekend, so we'll be running multiple events on Saturday and Sunday. WHEN: Memorial Day weekend - Friday afternoon until Monday evening. O====================O SCHEDULE! Full details on Facebook and Website (see links above) ** FRIDAY ** 2:00 pm - Bikes and Brews. Check out Cleveland's beer scene while getting some gorgeous views of the Cuyahoga river. (99% sure the river won't be on fire.) 7:00 pm - Welcome Party. Meet up with everyone at Duck Island Club, an old speakeasy, and meet some new friends. ** SATURDAY ** 10:00 am - West Side Market trip and river walk. Visit the iconic West Side Market, eat something delicious, and take a quick walk around back along the Cuyahoga river. 12:30 pm - meet across the street at Market Square for the afternoon tracks (1-5pm): -- Bike tour of Cleveland. We luv bikes in Cleveland. See the city sights on two wheels. -- Pierogi crawl. Spend the afternoon eating some of the best pierogi in Cleveland. Stuff your stomach. Discuss the best fillings. Debate whether the proper plural is pierogi or pierogis. -- Board game cafe. Board games can make or break a friendship. Take that Risk (rimshot!) and spend a relaxing afternoon conquering the world, terraforming a planet, or being a German farmer. 5:00 pm - Velodrome cycling lesson and barbecue. The Cleveland Velodrome is offering $10 lessons for up to 15 people. The rest of us will fire up the grill and watch people bike in a circle really fast. Leave for the Bar Crawl @6:30pm! 7:00 pm - RTA pub crawl. Starting from the Velodrome, we'll take the RTA to different bars across Cleveland. There will be train car shenanigans. There will be odd bars. There will be karaoke. ** SUNDAY ** 10:00 am - Diner Crash. Join some locals as they take small groups to their favorite Cleveland diners. 10:30 - Kayaks on the lake. See the city from the lake the size of a sea ($). 12:30 pm - Coordinate with your track captains to meet up for the afternoon tracks (1-5pm): -- Cuyahoga Valley National Park hike. Cleveland is synonymous with natural beauty. Take a quick ride south of town and experience it for yourself. -- Little Italy walk. See one of Cleveland's most famous neighborhoods, as well as Lakeview Cemetery and the Cleveland Art Museum. -- Great Lake Science Center. Check out the popular science museum on the edge of Lake Erie. Get your science on ($). 7:00 pm - Talent show at Johnny's Little Bar. Share your best stunts, stand-up, songs, and stories with fellow couchsurfers. ** MONDAY ** 11:30 am - Potluck at Edgewater Park. Enjoy our majestic shoreline and say goodbye to friends old and new.
