One of the major festivals celebrated in Manipur is the Yaoshang festival. In other parts of the country, the festival is popularly known as the Holi festival. The festival is celebrated in the Phalgun month according to the Hindu calendar. The festival is majorly celebrated by the Meitei group of Hindus in the state. On this day people wear their traditional attires. They also wear colorful head gears. In the morning play with colors and offer prayers to the Lord. In the evening grand feasts are organized. People visit friends and relatives. Cultural programs are also organized during the celebration of this festival.
