Let’s get together to enjoy the New York Philharmonic free outdoor concert in Central Park. We’ve done this since 2014 (skipping the pandemic) and always have a lot of people coming out and having a good time with other couch surfers on a magical evening. On the Great Lawn where the concert takes place, there are three ball fields on the west side and three ball fields on the east side. We will be next to the middle ball field on the the west side. This is the same spot if you came before. There will be fences preventing you from walking across the Great Lawn, so if you come from the east side, you need to walk all the way around it. We will have RED balloons to mark the spot. Note that there will be many balloons in the park, some even the same color. The closest subways are the B and C to 81st, the 4, 5, and 6 to 86th, the 6 to 77th, or the Q to 86th. Come as early as possible since the park gets very crowded and we can’t claim our space without people there to occupy it. 2) Bring a blanket or towel to sit on. This will also help us claim our space. 3) Cell phone service becomes unusable because of the crowd, so make sure you have all the information you need to find us available offline. 4) Bring enough picnic style food and drink for yourself and more if you want to share. 5) Alcohol is allowed during this event, so bring as many drinks as you can handle responsibly. 6) Smoking is not allowed in the park. 7) Clean up all your trash and put it in the designated areas. 8) Keep conversations to a minimum when the music is playing so people can actually listen to the music. There will be enough time for socializing before, during intermission, and after. 9) If the Philharmonic cancels due to weather, we will move it to Prospect Park in Brooklyn on Friday.
