I would like to learn more about ecological living from people experienced in it. I dislike hypocrisy, elitism, double standards and irresponsible behaviour for example 2 hour goodbyes. My Hosting Philosophy and Recent Lessons in Patience: I host travelers out of a genuine love for humanity. At nearly 60, managing a heart condition and arthritis, I live a simple, quiet life. I spend my own resources—paying for transport, buying cakes, chocolates, and meals, and taking guests for sightseeing—because I want everyone to feel like family. I provided a clean big size well furnished room with it’s own bathroom and toilet and wardrobe area in a safe, respectable and honorable environment, in one of the best locality of the city, and took good care of guests providing everything they asked for as much as I could from my own resources without expecting anything in return. However, I have recently learned that not every guest seeks a cultural exchange; some seek a level of control or perfection that is difficult to provide. I have been criticized for the simple house rules in my profile, such as being careful with water and electricity. As I am currently unemployed, these resources are precious. I believe being responsible is a virtue; I do not understand why being responsible in a country like Pakistan is judged as a flaw. In a recent stay, I was met with constant criticism of our laws (PTA registration), traffic, and even a local salesgirl for not being 'predictive' enough of a guest's needs. I have also learned that my natural 'survival tempo'—the fast pace at which I walk and talk—can be a source of extreme stress for some. I was told by a guest that my personality was 'impossible' and no one could live with me, yet when I politely asked for a specific reason to improve, I was met only with scoffs, silence, and anger. Even after apologizing a hundred times and changing my stride to please the guest, the frustration remained. And it's not as if she had to run and pant to keep up with me! I was just a few steps ahead and i slowed down when she pointed it out to me but her anger had already triggered and i was making jokes, talked on different topics, smiled and laughed, to cool her down. I must add here, this fast tempo is common in Pakistan. Go to any busy photocopy shop and see how they work or bun kebab shop, etc. It's a long story why we have this kind of tempo which comes naturally to us, but i immediately changed in whatever she wanted me to change in but yes sometimes we can make mistakes, like one time i talked fast with a shopkeeper and that was too much for her, i mean i cannot even write here the temper that started because of that even though i apologized many times. At one point, I was even told a very confusing and hurtful thing: that I had somehow taken the 'goodness' from inside the guest and replaced it with my own 'badness.' I am not as intelligent as some, so I do not know how such an exchange is possible, but I continued to apologize and offer kindness. Her exact words: "When i came, i was a good person and you were a bad person. Now you have taken out the goodness from inside me and put it in yourself and taken the badness from inside you and put it in me, so now i have become a bad person because of you". It is deeply hurtful to offer a luxurious, big, well-furnished room with a private bathroom, only to be met with repeated snapping. When a guest mentioned having no home or family, I offered my own, saying 'I am your family, my home is your home,' only to be refuted and met with anger. I have spent hours in the heat assisting with SIM registrations, taking guests to markets for the best fabrics, and even offering my own clothes—yet sometimes these gestures are met with rudeness. I am a person of truth, not diplomacy. I provide a safe, respectable, and honorable environment. If you seek a professional hotel or a host you can control, my home is not for you. But if you seek a host who gives his heart, you are welcome. I wish those with very specific standards peace on their journey.
