ABOUT ME I am a people's person so I like company. I'm here to meet and chat, nothing else I am easygoing, respectful and always as happy as I can be. PHILOSOPHY Eat as many pancakes as possible in life! It will cheer you up :)
ABOUT ME I'm a 49-year-old freelance translator (you can visit my freelancer profile here: https://www.proz.com/translator/3345205) born and raised in the Flemish city of Ghent, Belgium. Apart from languages (and their history), I am fond of traditional (folk) music and folk dancing, and I used to dance balfolk, tango and milonga. I started Wwoofing and volunteering with intentional communities, such as the Twelve Tribes, the Bruderhof and the Mennonites in September 2015. In the summer of 2016, I gave up my studio flat and started travelling as a Wwoofer and Workawayer. Since 2018, I take care of people's pets and homes (house sitting/pet sitting) while working as a freelance translator. Countries/regions I would really like to visit, include Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, Iceland, Scandinavia, the US, Canada, Australia, Madagascar and Latin America.
Iโm Basil! I love meeting new people, and learning about their life experiences. Iโm open to share my short experiences on this world. (I automatically reject all requests if they use the wrong name, itโs my way of validating you read my profile) :) I love exploring speciality coffee cafes, underground bars, museums, and exploring new areas. I live in Belgium and an avid fan of a nice beer. I enjoy going to comedy shows and random gigs and a checking out new exhibition at the museum. In your request please mention why do you think it would be a good match. ๐ friendly.
i am a friendly and relaxed guy living in Antwerp. I have been on this app for many years now. In August 2026 , I changed my bio because the world of couchsurfing recently changed. Since the app has been remodelled and since we have to pay to use it , the vibe draatically changed. From now on , I will be more restrictive because I hosted to many people who don't show appreciation after their visit It seems like couchsurfing is for people who travel and who are litteraly broke... So yes even sharing a drinkin a bar is not an option ,even bringing a bit of food or a small gift...or whatever...has become " difficult". Some vistors are really in a " non generous mode" and don't even realize they are... Some people come to your place and send you a positive comment and then disappear...Not even answering like ghosting....especially the young people.... Some people say they come and then never answer anymore...Like booking a free hotel and not even cancelling because it is free... So yes I think it was important for me to mention this because yes when you host someone , it requires some adaptation and effort and the ones visiting forget that a host has got a life next to that and a little bit of " recognition" is important because on top of that Couchsurfing as an organization doesn't make the difference between the devoted hosts and the " never online ,never answering inactive members..." Some people cross the limits and some of them need to read this and understand what the couchsurfing spirit is... I guess that I will understand in your requests if you went to read my bio till the end. I hope to come across people who got my message. Cheers

My apartment is located in the heart of Antwerpโs historic city center and I speak both Dutch and English. I'm a Freelance Data & AI Engineer, and regularly work remote. I grew up in Belgium and studied in Antwerp, so I know the city well and Iโm always happy to share local tips, hidden gems, and food recommendations.
CURRENT MISSION Life is about meeting and exchange. So that stories, experiences, perspectives and thoughts can travel between people. And couch surfing is all about people, their stories and about reliability. I like that. ABOUT ME I love so many things in life! As a mother of four grown up children and a grandchild on its way, working in an area that inspires me, having dear friends, I feel resilient and happy. The older I grow, the more balanced I learn to think and act. I love to do things that are new to me; to explore and to meet people.
I love sharing my apartment closely with guests. However, your comfort is my absolute priority. Iโm always happy to adapt to whatever level of space or privacy you needโjust let me know your 'vibe' when you arrive!" I love to explore cities and nature. You can also find me driving my Vespa with my Vespa club. I can enjoy Netflix and chill more than a party/nightclub. But I wonโt say no to a nightclub once in a while. I am also a very affectionate person so I want to apologise for it already if I get to close . I am very high sensitive, (extremely) I have a Instagram @will_travelling dedicated for travelling and Couchsurfing LGBT FRIENDLY
CURRENT MISSION Surfing from couch to couch and positively energizing by expanding my horizon on trails with breathtaking tales of the wide wild world. ABOUT ME Sweet smiles, cinema and coffee can get all my love. Hate is seldom on my list, but I do detest contempt. Whatever the future brings, food for the soul, please. Involve me in your smooth and tasty cuisine, mmm. I'm hardly a drinker but I appreciate excellent drops of joy. Among many, chocolate is of course a divine delight. Friends ascribe me a heart in the right place and as far as I'm concerned, that's probably a good bases. Sometimes they call me Captain because of my past as an indoor soccer coach at uni. There are many things to love about life. Like waking up without a care (rarely happens), looking at the sky, a smile from charming people, the feeling you get when eating while you are really hungry, the sound of a rain shower (especially at the beginning) on a tent, surfing in the setting sun, the smell of flowers and freshly mown grass, to sit on the banks of a river (with or without cheerful chats), to almost really die laughing, the gentle buzz of an atmospheric terrace in the centre of a terrific town, wisdom whispered softly to you in your ear ... PHILOSOPHY Life is short. Live it. Don't dream your life. Live your dreams.
I'm originally from the UK, but have lived in Europe for many years ๐ค I'm a very open minded and laid back kind of guy and the world for me is never a glass half full or half empty, more a glass with a little less beer in it than 5 mins ago ๐ I believe we all create own destiny along the way and make good and bad choices equally. We're only human so I NEVER judge. I'm just happy to have lived this crazy rollercoaster of a life and to have experienced in all its glory ๐๐ I'm also an avid music lover, having played in bands for many years ๐ธ and I also play out every week (in open mic events) that I'm happy to take you too ๐ In the last year I've also got serious about fitness and mostly train Crossfit a few times a week. If you like to train, then I'm happy to work out with you , or just take you as a visitor to our Box ๐ช๐โโ๏ธ
CURRENT MISSION To be a Europtimist among a league of Eurosceptics ABOUT ME . No need to get to personal right here. I just got curious after the stories of a friend. Meeting (foreign) people is always interesting and by showing other people your part of the world makes one look different or more closely to it so that one can experience certain elements and aspects like never before. Besides that, when going abroad couchsurfing looks like a nice way of meeting locals and getting inside information. If visits lead to a lively network of contacts than that's a very welcome side effect. In return for a couch or a bed somewhere, I would gladly help around the house or make dinner, no casualties from food poisoning among my friends up until now, or something else and if visitors like to express their eternal gratitude to me, they can always get me some plants, feel free. . PHILOSOPHY . I believe in doubt. I try to follow the way of the Buddha through quantum physics and relativity. Perfection is not of this world. No parking on the dancefloor Every day is a gift, even if it just brings a pair of old socks Every human being is as a small pebble in a bag full of pebbles. The more the pebble has contact with the others, the more it will lose its sharp edges. On the other hand people also need some quiet solitude or a form of introspection to keep their รข
