It is important to know that I have a Labrador retriever living with me. If you re not comfortable with dogs then it might not work. CURRENT MISSION My mission is to have fun while exploring the BC majestic outdoors. ABOUT ME (read carefully) I WANT MORE THAN JUST PROVIDE A PLACE TO SLEEP TO MY GUESTS. IF YOU ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO STAY, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME A REQUEST: I want to spend time with my guests, have the opportunity to socialize and to find out about their adventure. I believe; we will all be getting something amazing out of the experience. I love taking people to great outdoor places on hikes. I would love to meet people travelling and show them a good time. If you can afford a few dollars for gas then we can go explore more and further away. I host a great number of people so your help with the cost of gas , would be appreciated. If you cannot, I would still be glad to take you around. I do not drink any alcohol but you are welcome to have a beer or a glass of wine with your meal to relax at the end of the day in my home. I am retired have lots of time on my hands.
"A Dream about being human" Adaptive and enthusiastic and believer of individual evolution. Like to believe in the richness of whatever is left in humanity.
For the absolute love of life...and living by the phrase that "we seldom realize the significance of a moment until after it becomes a memory" and making every moment count! Please remember to be diligent and always leave a reference! I enjoy the simple things in life like waking up to sunshine over the ocean, a freshly brewed cup of coffee, walking along the beach, hiking, camping, listening to music, playing squash, gyming, socializing, playing cards and board games, having a beer at a local pub and always thinking about future travel plans! I'm not into the partying/clubbing scene, but I love socializing with a glass of wine, watching a movie, sharing travel stories, listening to music and socializing! Current mission: - Trying to visit as many countries, meeting new people, creating connections and making a difference! - Always planning for tomorrow, but living for today! - Being an inspiration to others and to be inspired! - Understanding the significance of a "moment" and trying to live "every" day without regrets - Knowing that "it is difficult to find happiness within oneself, but impossible to find it anywhere else" - To never stop smiling, never stop being happy...it's all just a frame of mind! Facebook Profile: Matthew B. Ryan or Whatsapp available as well (Please read my profile and references and feel free to ask any questions at all!) ABOUT ME I want to make a difference with those I cross paths with in this lifetime and in sharing incredible stories and experiences with amazing people. Realizing that we should embrace every moment and in never taking anything for granted as you don't second chances, just new opportunities! Most people consider me to be a super friendly and genuine person! (you can be the judge!) I try to make the most of every day that comes my way and if I could travel forever, I would! I definitely love meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds; making new friends and connections from around the World, sharing ideas and experiences! Things that I'm super passionate about besides just travelling are camping, hiking, road-trips, playing squash, canoeing, socializing, coffee shops, meaningful conversations, listening to music, cooking and almost ANY type of adventure! PHILOSOPHY - Never say never - Tomorrow is another day - People will always surprise you - Dreams are only possible if you try My apartment is located super close to downtown Victoria's Inner Harbour (area called James Bay) and just a few minutes behind the Parliament buildings and the Legislative Terminal bus loop! Major Attractions close by that are 10 mins or less walking: - Beacon Hill Park - Ogden Point Pier - Fisherman's Wharf - Mile Zero monument - Dallas Road seawall and the beach - Victoria's Parliament Buildings - Cook Street Village - BC Royal Museum - Victoria's Inner Harbour - Ferry lines to Port Angeles and Seattle - Groceries, restaurants, shops, cafés - Thrift store across the street/also a consignment store - Dollar store, second-hand shops right beside my building

I'm a music maker and a dreamer of dreams. I love to connect over good food and coffee, share poetry, song and great conversations. I'm deeply curious about life and its oddities. I spend much of my time reading and writing. I also play drums and guitar, dance, recite poetry, do yoga, read tarot cards, write calligraphy, play chess, and lift weights. I love go for long drives and long hikes, swim in the ocean, and watch the clouds and the stars. I like to collect books, tattoos, and stories.
Very laid back, creative and easy going. I’m self-employed with lots of free time and love to get out and explore the city and meet new people. I have a 3-bedroom apartment to myself with lots of free space for guests anytime, just minutes from downtown. Thai, Spanish and Mexican cuisine, Japanese, Jamaican and Indian dishes are my favourite international foods. I collect vinyl records and Converse shoes.

And I volunteer quite a bit for social justice (Free Palestine!), oil spill response, and environmental stewardship. I always try to show my couch surfers a good time and the best of this area. Dance in Victoria, but no longer live in downtown area. I live in Langford, near Costco ( bus nearby). Health care professional by trade but now retired ( mostly), dancing hobby of choice or is it travelling or camping? Was a scout leader for 12 years and though I miss it I am busy with dance camps and exploring other places without kids. Still cook but not as much as I use to, have trained my offspring well as they can all cook and as they have achieved adult status I let them do most of cooking. Make many diverse dishes from ethnic, Vegan and gluten free to just barbecuing on the grill. NOTE- I do not accept friend requests unless we have met in person
