The most thing I am interested in is traveling!! P.S. photos are long long times ago, so just imagine 10 times wider and older, ok, maybe a little bit too exaggerated, but definitely aging and wider than used to be (cry PHILOSOPHY Can't live without traveling in my life time
CURRENT MISSION Taking a 6 month break to explore the world, people, and myself. 1. Cross-Europe (completed) 2. Cross-Asia (completed) 3. Cross-Canada (ongoing) 4. El Camino de Santiago (ongoing) 5. Learning five fields that transformed the humankind (ongoing). ABOUT ME I moved to Toronto in 2021 but used to host in Chicago. Happy to meet locals and travellers for a coffee chat or walk in Toronto. So a little background about ourselves: I have lived in China, Poland, USA, and Canada. I love learning different languages and cuisines from different cultures. I traveled in 50 countries via backpacking. I used to be a martial arts trainer and a simultaneous interpreter (Chinese-English). I also run a pro bono education program that provides developmental support for first-generation university students. I have been used to the philosophy of "life is elsewhere" and seeking understanding of different cultures and sceneries around the world. PHILOSOPHY 1. "Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow." (James Dean) 2. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." (Vicki Corona) 3. "If you cannot be a poet, be a poem." (David Carradine)
To teach, travel, and enjoy myself. ABOUT ME I just returned to Chicago after spending the past three years teaching in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to that I was working and went to school in Minnesota. I am a world history teacher who loves to travel. I am always planning my next trip and hope to explore SE Asia (Cambodia and Laos), S. Africa, and Turkey in the near future!! PHILOSOPHY There are plenty of places out there worth seeing...
I was born and raised in Chicago and I love sharing this great city with travelers and continue to explore it myself. I'm vegetarian and can recommend good vegetarian places to eat in Chicago! With me and travel, it was love at first sight! I have always loved meeting people from other backgrounds and learning about other ways of being in the world. Teaching and education are topics that I love exploring and discussing. Mindfulness and nonviolence are also areas that I'm constantly learning more about.

I am an artist and wanderer with a soft spot for exploring new places. By trade I am a musician, I play the viola (ever heard of it?) and the violin. I've been very lucky in that my work has allowed me to see the world. I perform in professional orchestras all around the mid-west, mostly everywhere between Iowa and Michigan. My career has taken me to the deep south, California, Colorado, Canada a few times, and even as far as Europe. It really is my passion and I enjoy bringing people together through music. I am obsessed with cooking. Sometimes between work trips I only have a few hours at home before taking off again, and I use that time to make meals for my next adventures. My cooking style is quite meaty, fatty, and spicy, much to the chagrin of my partner. I find excuses to cook even when I don't have to. There's just something so therapeutic about the transformation of simple ingredients to invent something greater than the sum of its parts. Just like with music, I also love to bring people together through the art of cooking. I've lived in Chicago for 11 years now and I imagine I'll be here a while longer too. I would love to show you around to some of my favorite sites, restaurants, and things to do if you are visiting this wonderful city. There is a running and biking trail right next to Lake Michigan and from where I live you can get a really nice view of downtown. Also you can swim in the lake if it's warm enough! I hope to keep using Couchsurfing to learn all about different cultures. So far everyone I have hosted and stayed with all had amazing stories and experiences to offer and I want to keep up the pattern!

Hey Couchsurfers! I'm an intellectually curious and open-minded guy who earnestly believes that humanity's only chance at survival hinges on doing a better job of both listening and talking to each other. So here I am! My work schedule keeps me pretty busy, but I am happy to at least offer my couch as a place to crash, and schedule-willing, hang out and show visitors around this awesome city.
Musician, writer, organizer & eternal learner with a deep curiousity for music, cultures & adventure. I’m from Chicago & trying to get over being a city girl. Quiero practicar mi español :) I am a writer, musician, organizer and a cultural event planner for my city government. I play the cello and some other instruments. I love folk and traditional music from around the world. When traveling I love to explore new cities and nature, hang out over food and coffee and learn as much as I can. I love a long conversation over coffee, tea, a couple pints or shisha!!
ABOUT ME I am NOT hosting right now. After the fire, I'm just renting a room. When I get a new place, I will start hosting again. I enjoy meeting people from around the world and sharing unique experiences around the city. I'm a simple, humble, quiet/introverted guy. PHILOSOPHY "One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things" "It's not the destination, but the journey"
I am originally from Chicago but have been living in Israel for the last 20 years...im now mostly back in the United States I am also a businessman who eventually lost all i had....i lost what i had getting involved in businesses i had no right to ever get involved in in the first place ( A pizzeria and a retail jewelry store and others) I am now rebuilding and therefore need to slash all expenses as much as possible I travel for a living and sell marketing concepts that help certain businesses earn a larger share of their market I travel all over the US
CURRENT MISSION Stamp the passport ABOUT ME Laid back, easy going. Enjoy relaxing with family/friends, going out, good food, wine, jokes and laughs.
Hi all! I am an enthusiastic and fun-loving person with a passion for traveling and meeting new friends. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and majored in Hospitality Management. My dream is to start my own boutique hotel or hostel. You can see me out and about spending time with friends, taking photos/video, tasting new cuisine, flying planes, or anything else that sounds like fun. I also recently got married! I work as a Hotel General Manager and recently moved back to the Midwest and love to provide friendly hospitality! I’m shy at first but slowly open up as we chat more and more. While I’m not able to host right now, I hope to still meet people from across the globe and experience the world through the stories of others. I want to continue to make memories even if my vacation days are limited now. We can always learn from one another, and I'd be happy to show you around this city I now call home!
