HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING My first couchsurfing experience was in Helsinki, quickly followed by my second in the Arctic town of Kiruna, Sweden. Both experiences were amazing, though I didn't have my own profile at that time, I became an instant supporter. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Fantastic idea. Makes me feel very optimistic about the world and her generous people.

The summer after I graduated college I cycled from New York City to San Francisco in about 74 days and really grew to appreciate this country. After living overseas it becomes easy to loathe American culture, and especially our political and economic environment, but there's always more depth to people and places than assumed, and the diversity in this country is really no joke. I had not one scratch, injury, or close-calls the entire tour, returned back to Illinois and was hit by a car. So very ironic. Now that I'm up and walking again, I hope to travel even more.
