I travel alone so you can imagine that Couchsurfing is a great opportunity for me, of course to save money and make this trip last but even more importantly for meeting people on the way. Travelling along might sometimes feel a bit lonely so it's great to meet new people. Also, I believe that Couchsurfing is a great way to meet local people. While hostels are nice because they are full with travelers, which is great to party or meet people to visit around the city, Couchsurfing allows meeting locals which brings a very different experience. It's also a real choice to host people for free when solidarity is more and more replaced by the "shared economy".
