!!! CURRENT SITUATION !!! At the moment I'm not in Freiburg anymore. I visit from time to time and would be up to meet with Surfers. I can't host in Freiburg though. 😕 Until February 2021 I'll live at my parents farm in a small village about 1 hour east of Cologne. I'd be able to host but I'm in the middle of nowwhere. In case that doesn't matter and you wanna stay on a dairy farm feel free to contact me. CURRENT MISSION Don't let your budget stop you from exploring the world. Well and I guess finishing my studies. Since I am busy writing my final paper and preparing for my final exams, it might be a bit harder to host. You can still send me a request though. :) ABOUT ME Well, my self-describing skills suck... But I'll give it a try. My name is Sam (well actually it's Samuel but everybody calls me Sam). I grew up on a dairy farm in a small town near Cologne. I mean really small, like a population of 160 or so. Anyway, I loved it there and still love to go back, BUT I always wanted to see different places. I joined the Wandervogel, that's an organization like the boy scouts, I believe when I was seven and hiked through Germany and Western Europe. I also tried to get into as many student exchanges as I could. It didn't work out though. I just made it to England, France and Poland. In 2008 I had the great opportunity to make it across the Atlantic Ocean as an Aupair. Loved it! I try to travel or be outdoors as much as possible, which is not always easy since there is other stuff in life that needs to be done. In 2009 I moved to Freiburg in Southern Germany. It's quite close to the French and Swiss boarder. I like it a lot. I lived in a student dormitory with people from basically everywhere, for a few years. After a semester abroad in New Zealand I did some traveling to South East Asia. It was an amazing time! In 2015 I moved into a flat in Freiburg that I share with a friend. It's not as international and busy as the student dormitory but I have more room to host You! :) One final thing you should know about me is that I'm gay. That didn't influence my couchsurfing experiences so far, but I thought it's worth mentioning. So if you have problems with that you know before hosting me. I think it shouldn't matter though. PHILOSOPHY Live today! But don't forget about tomorrow!

Perché sono su Couchsurfing
Actually there are two reasons for joining couchsurfing. The obvious one is that I like to meet locals when traveling. I think that's simply the best way to get to know a country and its people. So far I made just great experiences. Two friends and I traveled up the east coast and southern Canada. We stayed in Washington D.C., Boston and Toronto. In each city we had amazing hosts. In 2013 I did some couchsurfing in South East Asia! Again, just good experiences! Since I can't travel all the time I'd be glad to host surfers and meet people from around the world that way. That's why I offer a couch, well a mattress, in Freiburg, Germany. That works too, right?
Musica, film e libri
Sometimes I like movies and books that have dept to it. I want them to make me think about them even after they're over. Sometimes I like movies and books that deal with issues in our life, other peoples life or the planet. Sometimes I like movies and books that just take you away to a different places. That let you escape. Those can be real or imaginative. I love Tim Burton by the way! :)
Una cosa straordinaria che ho fatto
I had the chance to hike with a monk, that I taught English for about two months, to the Golden Rock in Myanmar. It was an amazing hike through the jungle.
Insegna, Impara, Condividi
I like to cook! So one thing I hope I can teach and learn while hosting or surfing are new dishes! Since I go climbing regularly and the Black Forrest with some good rock is close by I can also show you how to rock climb if you like and the weather allows it.
I miei interessi
I love rock climbing, ice hockey and motocross! I'd consider myself as a calm person who enjoys everything good. No matter if it's food, drinks, books, moments, places or people. I could probably add a thousand more things to that list.
