Walking on Old Highway 101 between San Diego and Los Angeles. To my left was a crumbling cliff that spilled into the sparkling Pacific, and to my right was Interstate 5. The setting sun turned everything golden, and I had the whole road to myself for almost 10 miles. --- Swimming in one of Beijing's touristy ponds in the middle of the night. I could hear the faint thrum of music and laughter from the lakeside bars. Lights from the city reflected off the mellow water and watergrasses clutched at my ankles.
