Couchsurfing since 2007—so yes, I remember when this felt like a slightly underground experiment in human trust. Over the years I’ve met a lot of incredible people here—some of whom somehow upgraded themselves from random strangers to close friend within a matter of days. Still not entirely sure how that keeps happening, but I’m not questioning it. There’s something special about the kind of connections you make here. These days, life is a bit less spontaneous—I have a busy job, a young daughter, and a dog—so I travel less and host more. But honestly, I love it that way. Hosting lets me experience Berlin through fresh eyes, and it often feels like a mini trip without losing luggage or sleeping in airports. What else to mention? I’m half British, half German, living in Berlin since 2018. I’m social, open-minded, and curious about people and their stories. I enjoy deep conversations just as much as lighthearted chats over a glass of wine. Free time usually involves sports (tennis, running, swimming, golf), being outdoors (parks, lakes, mountains when I escape the city), or culture (films, theatre, discovering new restaurants, good conversations). Nightclubs? Not a weekly habit. But every now and then Berlin convinces me it’s a good idea—and suddenly it’s 7 a.m. and I’m eating something questionable to cure my hangover while rethinking my decisions. Growth…
