As of 5/13/26: Couchsurfing is no longer the community I first discovered and enjoyed. Changes, however they might be deemed necessary to "revamp" the site and the app, seem to me more restrictive than ever --all along while charging most members (Americans for sure) an annual fee for the privilege of hosting, as my personal case is. I don't envision these corporate changes becoming anything than more intrusive and expensive, so for now, it's au revoir for me. CURRENT GOAL 2026: Brazil (again!) in the spring - Iceland and Greenland in the summer! 2027: Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia... and maybe Singapore!
