Hosts in Bergen
Went back to South America late November 2025. Back home as of late March 2026 Traveled South America from November 20th 2024, until April 19th 2025. Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile Sometimes I host social events in Bergen. Board games, vinyl sessions, movie nights, swim/sauna and BBQ. About hosting: ✔ I prefer requests no longer than 7 days before your arrival. It's hard to know my availability far ahead. ✔ Make some effort with your profile. Make it personal. ✔ Same goes for requests, make some effort and make it personal. Let me know a little about yourself, and why you want to stay with me. Everybody on Couchsurfing likes to travel, save money and meeting new people. Give me something more in your request. ✔ Please read my profile before coming, I always read yours, and this way we know a little about each other before meeting in person. ✔ Food is expensive here. Consider contributing by either cooking or buying some groceries. 😊 You can of course use my kitchen to prepare your own meals too. I have hosted CS guests from: 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱 🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷 🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳 🇮🇷🇮🇷 🇩🇰🇩🇰 🇲🇽🇲🇽 🇮🇹🇮🇹 🇺🇦🇺🇦 🇳🇱🇳🇱 🇧🇷🇧🇷 🇮🇳🇮🇳 🇺🇸 🇮🇱 🇸🇳 🇲🇦 🇷🇺 🇵🇪 🇧🇪 🇹🇼 🇮🇸 🇨🇭 🇦🇹 🇬🇧 🇷🇸 🇳🇴 🇰🇷 I have surfed in: 🇧🇷🇦🇷🇨🇱🇧🇴🇵🇪🇪🇨🇨🇴🇵🇹🇪🇸🇨🇦🇨🇭🇮🇹🇻🇳🇬🇧🇭🇺🇮🇸🇳🇴 I live in a flat i Sandviken neighborhood. My flat is around 30 min walk from the bus/train station, or 15 min walk from the final stop with the light rail (ByBanen) coming from the airport. It's a little steep the last 15 min of the walk. You can take a bus from the city centre, "10 Mulen" to the stop "Mulen". First time in Bergen? Here are a few things to consider: ☔It rains a lot. Check out the website yr.no for the most accurate forecast. 💰💰💰Everything is expensive, and the quality of food and services might not be at a the same level as you are used to from home. 🍲 The cheapest groceries stores are Kiwi, Coop Extra and Rema 1000, other stores might have good weekly deals. A lot of stores keep closed on Sundays. 🍷You can buy alcohol (Beer) up to 4,7% alcohol in grocery stores (usually Mon-Fri 08:00-20:00 - Saturday 08:00-18:00), closed on Sunday. If you want to buy wine or spirits you have to go to Vinmonopolet (check out the specific store for opening hours) Usually open from 08:00 - 10:00 until 16:00 - 18:00. 🚌 You can buy bus tickets from selected machines at the airport, or city center. The easiest way is to get the SKYSS app, tickets are valid for 60 min. New as of late 2022, you can now buy tickets onboard the busses with a debit or credit card. Ticket inspectors will give you a fine you if you get caught without a ticket. 🧝The people are generally friendly and helpful, but will rarely approach you first. Norwegians are reserved and a little shy, but will open up more over time. English is spoken and understood by the majority. 🚞The cable car Fløibanen runs every day. You can easily hike up if you are moderately fit. 🚡The cable car Ulriksbanen is open, but check the website for the specific date you wish to take it. It's a little pricy at 20€ one way, 35€ with return. It's possible to hike up and down, but do check out the weather forecast. ⛰️Trolltunge "Troll tongue" is overrated and made popular by Instagram. It's not close to Bergen. It's 4 hours away by car. You should check out the towns Odda or Tyssedal for accommodation. You will not make the hike and drive from Bergen in one day. There are many beautiful hikes/viewpoints both near and far from Bergen. Tell me what you like and I can recommend you something. 🚢🌊Fjord cruises are a little pricy but can be worth it if the weather is nice. Check out the 5 day Fjordcard with Norled, you can travel deep into Sognefjorden and also up the coast to Selje. I have done this twice before and I slept in a tent. 🚗 It's also possible to rent a car and drive to the Fjords. Flåm for example is 2,5 hours away. Eidfjord in Hardanger even shorter. If you want to get deeper into Sognefjorden it will take you longer, and there might be a ferry. Olden, Loen and Stryn are almost 5 hours away (quickest route). Geiranger almost 7 hours away. Remember that the days are short in Winter/Late autumn/Early spring. And again, there are lots of beautiful sights close to Bergen. You don't need to travel far. I can recommend places not seen so often on social media. ABOUT ME I'm a seeking, curious and adventurous person from Norway. Since I was very young I've always had two strong desires, to be close to nature and express myself in different mediums of art. I studied fine art and photography in Norway. I found especially photography and painting rewarding. Later I studied Filmmaking in Prague, which took me on a journey from Prague to London, then Hong Kong, and then back again. My main work of interest has been as a cinematographer (director of photography). But I have also done photography, both for clients and just for my own passion. I grew up in a hiking loving family; it didn't take long before I had experienced both sleeping outside under the stars, and going full day hikes, deep into the wild. My father taught me to love the life on the road, jumping on a plane without knowing where to sleep the same night. He showed me the joy of meeting new people, cultures and places and to treasure these moments. For long I worked within the oil and gas industry. Both at platforms/ships in the north sea, and on gas processing plants and oil refineries on land. It was never my passion to work at these places, but I needed sorely money, and the market was tough. Even for entry-level jobs. I was living in London for a few months, and I wanted a change. Working within the creative field can be tough, and especially as a freelancer. After struggling for awhile in London, I wanted to do something meaningful. I decided to do volunteer work for different people around Europe through Workaway. In 2016 returned to Norway to pursue photography full time and worked in a photography partnership with my now ex, in 2019 I went back to being a solo freelance photographer and now I take different assignments in and around Bergen. I was a vegetarian for many years, now a little more flexible. I quit alcohol 15 years ago. I don’t smoke or do drugs but I love coffee/tea and sweets. Especially chocolate and ice cream. I like to build healthy habits for myself, but I sometimes struggle with motivation. I would like to get in better shape like I used to be in my early 20’s If you like to see what I do for work: www.benjaminbargard.com
I'm busy until the begin of October. I might be hosting, maybe not. FIRST AND FOREMOST - If you request to stay with me, I'll usually respond within a few hours (during daylight). [The new app does not give me notification. It could be taking longer.] Please read the FIRST AND FOREMOST-section and the "my house"-section and include in your message which item (e.g. a bicycle, a backpack, a pan, a....) describes you best and why. - Respect in requesting is important to me. Sadly, that's not for everyone in here. So I don't want to be part of a mass request. Please only ask some persons at a time, because everyone is a human being here and deserves respect. Therefore, I like it when people respond to requests. As an active host, I receive many requests and I plan my time accordingly. I enjoy helping people, but I am feeling misused when I get canceled, then. - Some people don’t host surfers if they don’t have any reference, but I don`t care. Nevertheless, the idea of CS was to host first and surf then. Why should I trust you if you don’t trust anyone? Think about it ;) - Duolingo: Jannik.20.05 CURRENT MISSION The question "Why do you do what you do?" is far more significant than "What do you do?" If you haven’t yet asked yourself, "Why do I do what I do?", the time to reflect is now. While it's possible to pursue any career or activity, if your sole motivation is just to earn money or seek pleasure, it might be worth reconsidering your path. I’m here and happy to reflect on this together with you. :) Currently, I have two major goals. My primary goal is to build up great connections with people, make memories, and fight back against all the horrible things in this world, such as fascism, climate change, hate speech, white supremacy, sexism, and so on. My secondary goal is to become a professor in computer science in the near future. The latter one occupies most of my time right now. It surprises me to find myself on this journey. Just a few years ago, I was involved in activism, occupying forests, and striving to create a better society. However, my disillusionment with the state's use of violence and the lack of effective means to achieve social and climate justice led me to change course and I became an active Christian. After being disappointed by “the church,” I again had to rediscover what I am living for. Now, I focus on mathematics and want to find out how to be a useful part of society. My PhD thesis explores several biological questions related to the mass extinction of animals from an algorithmic perspective. While I’m unsure if this contributes to societal change, at least it feels non-harmful. Ultimately, my goal is to leave a positive impact on society. To achieve this, I aspire to embody values that have become essential to me, such as meekness, generosity, and love for those around me. Along the way, I hope to connect with great people and create memorable experiences with friends. ABOUT ME In my life, I have tried many things and then followed through pretty consistently. To give just a small list of them: I was successful in my studies, I visited many soccer stadiums, I was quite successful in party politics, I occupied forests, enrolled as a missionary, and and and. A very colorful bouquet of life experiences. An interesting fact about me: I share all my money in a group. So we do not have to be lone warriors. Please dare to ask me more about that if you are interested. For me, it is important not to live on the cost of others. Minimalism and living mostly in harmony with nature are two of my top ideals. UPCOMING TRAVEL PLANS … I traveled so much recently that I do not have concrete plans.
Heyo! My name is Vegard, I am 26 years old and live in the most beautiful (and wet😅) city in Europe. I love meeting new people from other countries and learn about their cultures. It's super interesting to learn about the differences and similarities across borders, like learning how the political system works, which part of your country is being made fun of for whatever reason and such things. In addition, I like video games, board games, football and cats!
If I don't respond here please try contacting me on іnsта: @Leonid_Rayski Aloha voyagers 🚀 I'm an experienced track & field athlete, now I’m a coach and help people achieve their goals, change their lives for the better.. and just living my best life :) In past I am founder and coach for my LeTeam (run club) and director for the mini football league, which is based in my city and it was one of the largest amateur league in Europe, since 2008. At the time span of my career I've trained a lot of people, who successfully have achieved their goals: - ran various distances from few miles to marathon/triathlon - lost their kilograms - improved their technic and corrected lifestyle habits Also with my brother created platform • Greenmaker.org This idea was born in 2014. At first my brother and I just started to plant trees in our hometown. But a few years later it had grown into a truly powerful community with more than 1,000. The idea of this project is to unite all the people on our small planet and plant 8,000,000 trees around the world together. On this platform you can get support, ask for help or find same-minded people for a greener your city. And now part time I work as a tour guide and make tours to most famous and beautiful places in Norway 🇳🇴 Part of the job involves taking cool photos 📸😄 Always open minded and eager to meet people from around the world 🌎🤙
