โ€œEveryone you meet knows something you donโ€™t know but need to know. Learn from them.โ€ - Carl Jung I spent a significant part of my life in the education sector from being a classroom teacher to supervising education programs and now back to being a classroom teacher in San Francisco Bay Area. In between, I have volunteered in some civil society organizations mostly focusing on education-related programs. At some point, I tried corporate jobs but realized that I thrive better in the education sector. Outside work, I love to travel and explore new places, learn more about cultures, meet people, and exchange stories. I believe that stories are powerful and each story has the power to change the world. There is so much that we can learn from each other to build tolerance where people from diverse backgrounds can live in a more pluralistic society and a more livable world. MY TRAVEL PHILOSOPHY I believe that travel is not a luxury; it's a necessity for a richer, more connected life. Traveling broadens our perspectives and opens us to the beauty and diversity of the world. Itโ€™s not just about visiting beautiful tourist spots but truly immersing in the unique identity and culture of each place. I aim to experience destinations as a whole, not as an outsider looking in but as a part of the local rhythm. For me, travel is about engaging deeply with the lives of locals and fellow travelers, learning from their stories, sharing moments, and building connections. Each journey is a chance to grow and celebrate our shared humanity!

Iโ€™m a gay Asian professional who love to travel and open to meeting other travelers around the world. I am more comfortable and PREFER MALE couch surfers (gay men +++). I want to support and help my own LGBT community. (Please indicate in your request if youโ€™re a member of LGBT so I can prioritize and consider your request whenever I get multiple requests). If you will not mention anything about LGBT, I will assume youโ€™re not part of the community. Again, no offense to women (I do have 3 sisters!) but since itโ€™s my home, I want to be able to choose and be comfortable in my own home!

CURRENT MISSION I'm doing the ultimate Couchsurfing thing - I quit my job to travel around the world! I worked as a part-time digital nomad for a lot of my journey but am happily funemployed for now. Looking for cultural immersion and education, meaningful connections with a variety of people, and of course beautiful and unique sights and places. www.instagram.com/peacejoyaustin ABOUT ME Very adventurous - love to explore and see new places, whether in my backyard or across the globe. I don't get bored easily; I always make fun out of anything. PHILOSOPHY Be positive ๐Ÿ˜ Be your own quirky self ๐Ÿคช Donโ€™t take for granted that you will live to old age - do everything you want to do now and appreciate each additional year you are given ๐Ÿฅฐ

Greetings, fellow Couchsurfers! I am happy to host you if you ask! Why would you want to Couchsurf in my home when you really want to go to San Francisco? Well, the obvious reason is geography! It is very easy and quick to get to downtown San Francisco from my apartment, actually even easier than from some neighborhoods in San Francisco. And here are a few reasons you may wish to include a visit to Oakland in your journey. I am located in downtown Oakland where you can experience local culture and activities, including the Oakland Museum of California and the Black Panther Party Museum. My apartment is just a few blocks from many public transit options such as BART and bus lines. Getting to San Francisco is a 12 minute train ride. There is even an AMTRAK station only 21 minutes walk from my place. Since I am retired now, I can welcome you to my home early in the day and I am happy to have you stay late on the date of your departure. Request two nights, and I can host you for three full days! This is actually the optimal length of your stay with me and it gives you plenty of time to spend in San Francisco. I'm happy to discuss possibilities and arrangements with you before you submit a request to stay with me. I have a one-bedroom apartment in Oakland. I am willing to share my good fortune with others! See more pics of my home and my city on Instagram. Find me here: https://www.instagram.com/sailor.sfbay/ cool runnings! Everyone is better off when everyone is better off. So, let's do it! (Fully vaccinated! Is this even a thing, still?)
