Most of my work life, I have been living and working somewhere abroad. It was always important to me to be in contact with local people in order to understand the different culture and the little details that tourists usually don't recognize. Your home is where your hearth is...

NOT ABLE TO HOST AT THIS TIME. We just moved and are still trying to settle in and unpack, so not available to host now. Hopefully back soon. ABOUT ME I teach high school physics and yearbook. I'm a vegetarian (my wife Katie is a pescetarian when good salmon is available), and if you stop by I can probably fix you a good vegetarian or vegan meal. In addition to teaching, my wife and I lead geology focused hiking trips, usually in Death Valley (search for Northern California Geology and Natural Sciences Hiking Group on Meetup.com). We lead day hikes as well, usually one or two per month in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our trips usually have 10-20 people, and we accept donations on a sliding scale--our group model is closer to Couch Surfing than AirBandB. PHILOSOPHY You can afford anything you want, just not everything. HISTORY WITH CS I started hosting when I was living in a studio apartment in Berkeley, and had several surfers who were happy sleeping on the floor. When my wife and I married in 2012, I moved across the Bay to SF and introduced her to CS. One of my favorite hosting experiences was when a couple needed to stay with us but we had to go out of town on a family emergency. We gave them our garage code so they could get into the house, and they cat-sat our three cats while we were away. We never met in person, but it seemed to match the philosophy of CS.

Traveling every chance I get. I love meeting people and hearing their stories. I'm typically a big solo traveler but am always happy to bring friends along whenever the occasion arises. Sometimes I get myself into some precarious situations but I've come out on the other side all the better for it! Always willing to try anything new - no matter what, it's always worth it for the experience.
