Labuks! 👋 My name is Ovidijus. I live in Vilnius, Lithuania, although I’m originally from a village near Panevėžys, in northern Lithuania. 🇱🇹 I’m currently studying ethnomusicology in Vilnius — basically, folk music. 🎶 I lived abroad for 7 years from the age of 17 — in England, Latvia and Germany. Because of that, I became very interested in travelling, languages and different cultures, but especially in each country’s traditional folk songs and dances. They absolutely amaze me! 🤩 Lithuanian is my mother tongue, but I speak Latvian 🇱🇻 and German 🇩🇪 quite fluently, and I’m always happy to practise them with other travellers. So if you speak Latvian or German and text me in English - I will not appreciate it. I’m vegetarian, but I love vegetarian meat! 🍖😋 I’ve already visited more than half of the countries in Europe, and I’ve been to Morocco 5 times — clearly, I like that place. 🇲🇦😄 I sing a lot, but only folk songs. (Don't ask me for pop music). I play the Lithuanian Labanoro dūda (bagpipes) and Lithuanian kanklės (zither), I have 4 ukuleles, a couple of guitars and some other instruments at home. 🎸🪇 I’m always happy when music or dancing suddenly appears at any part of the day. It doesn’t really need much planning. :) I used to make tattoos and work as a tour guide, although I don’t really do either anymore. I still occasionally miss tattooing, though, so maybe one day I’ll get back into it — or make one for you! ;) If you know good wine, I would love to taste it! 🍷 My favourite beer country is Latvia. 🍺 My favourite wine country is Sakartvelo (Georgia). 🇬🇪 ⚠️ ------------------- ⚠️ ### About hosting I’m quite selective about hosting. If you want to stay at my place in Vilnius, I’m looking for some kind of cultural exchange: You might teach some folk songs, play an instrument, teach me a traditional dance, cook something from your country, practice with me Latvian or German, or bring some other interesting part of your culture into my home. 🎶💃🌍 What I’m ⚠️NOT⚠️ interested in is hosting someone simply because they need a place to sleep, or because they want to “grab a beer” with a local. I am not interested and have no time for this. 😄 I’m also happy to show you a little bit of Vilnius or simply spend an evening together, if I have free time — but I’m not interested in hosting purely as accommodation.
