3-day road-trip to Auxerre / Vézelay / Morvan

Hello!

Who knows the Yonne department / FR89 / Auxerre / Chablis / Vézelay?

I will be there for a week at the beginning of February for work, including 3 days of road-trip / car rental (Saturday February 1st to Monday February 3rd).

If it interests anyone to join, do not hesitate to reach me out. I will stay for 2 nights in a hotel in Auxerre on February 3rd and 4th for the professional trade-fair Croisières Fluviales happening on February 4th and 5th.

I can arrange CouchSurfing accommodation for a group of 4 people without any problem, I'm used to doing that.

Here is my idea of a 3-day road-trip (it's brainstorming so not necessarily going everywhere):

Rocher du Saussoi loop, Vézelay (famous pilgrimage), Avallon (fortified and charming city, Cousin valley), Morvan detour / Le Curé river, that I like or even all the way to Autun, Saulieu (gastronomic sanctuary, La Côte d'Or restaurant - Le Relais Bernard Loiseau), Semur-en-Auxois (village and church), Alise-Ste-Reine (Alésia MuséoParc), Fontenay Abbey, Noyers-sur -Serein (fortified medieval village with its ramparts, old timber-framed houses, walk along the Serein), Ancy-le -Franc (earthenware museum, chateau), Tanlay (Chateau with moats), Tonnerre (old town, its Fosse Dionne and its Hôtel-Dieu), Chablis (stone streets).

Castles: d'Ancy-le Franc, Béru, Chastellux, Saint-Fargeau, Guédelon (medieval construction site), Ratilly, Bussy-rabutin

Auxerrois wines: Chablis (unique grand cru), renowned dry white wine, Chardonnay B grape variety, but also Côte Saint-Jacques, Irancy

Avallon: ramparts and old houses

Auxerre: prefecture, banks of the Yonne, Parc de l'Arbre Sec, Saint-Etienne cathedral (very harmonious in Gothic art), archaeological museum, Leblanc-Duvernoy museum (earthenware and tapestry collections). De Beauvais (water and environment museum), Pontigny abbey, Ratilly castle with collection of sandstone

Joigny, town with a beautiful view along the Yonne

Sens and its majestic Saint-Etienne cathedral, rich with imposing grids of the choir, its old houses, its museums

Vézelay: Sainte-Marie-Madeleine basilica and its relics from the 9th century, famous Way of Saint James, former abbey church, among the most beautiful villages in France, L'Esperance, high place of pilgrimage, construction 1120, starting point of the 3rd crusade in 1190. Jules-Roy house and museums

Kind regards,

Fred
