anything to fill my house, please?

Hi all I've just moved to Vancouver for the next few months and find I have a couple of bedrooms and a living room in my new house that are unfurnished, and kitchen cupboerds devoid of cutlery, crockety, etc....so anything is useful right now and I can re-give away when I leave. I am car-less, but is anyone able to help offer anything?

Yes, I've joined freecycle, and will be looking in charity/second-hand shops, cheap places, etc.

Hi, Tim, and welcome to Vancouver!

You mentioned Freecycle; another good place to check for free stuff is Craigslist's "free" section, at http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/zip/. There's tons of stuff being given away every day there. Most of the general household stuff, like what you're looking for, is given away at the end of the month, as people are moving out of their places. If you had written away one or two days earlier this might have been a lot more useful, but maybe you'll still find lots of good stuff now. In any case, keep checking there every day.

By the way, be careful with mattresses, bed frames, bed sheets etc as -- although I've never seen or experienced anything -- there are apparently lots of reports of the so-called "beg bugs" around. They are, it seems, very hard to get rid of once they get into your stuff, so it's better to be very careful not to bring anything with bed bugs into your place. At the very least, make sure you ask the person giving you stuff whether they ever had bed bugs.
