Hi Vladi, I live in wainiha next to haena. Simple answer: no. The road is not open and they have no definite idea when it will open. Current estimates range from months up to two years. Background answer: It's still considered a federal / national disaster zone . There are approved times and days with guided convoy and a couple resident only shuttles (with again official special disaster zone resident permit) that proven residents with approved vehicles can utilize to come and go but it's not a given . It's hard for residents to be allowed to go to and from our homes outside of the area. The road is still very sketchy and with winter, a time of many road floods and rock slides no matter the year, they can't say how quickly they will be able to finish the work because of any setbacks or days where it's not possible to work or reach the area with any other nearby bridge closures. They are working on cliffsides to get the road together so we will see how winter work schedule goes. Tourism and vacation rental industries definitely want the road open quicker. Some want more focus on a new plan for the area when it opens in order to help preserve the nature, beauty. There's a lot going on behind the scenes of the road and area closure. Everyone wants it safe as possible when it opens. Good to know as well: Kalalau is closed, no boat tours allowed on this part of the island coast or drop offs in that northern park area. Anyone accessing the general Haena area who doesn't live there, even others who live on other parts of Kauai island, and any residents who bring guests (including blood relatives) can be fined or given a jail sentence, and residents face losing their pass to come and go at allotted times (and being an official resident with timed convoy pass is a huge county approval process, beyond what one would want to imagine to prove that you reside in the area and there are limited number of passes on top of it). It's a bit intense right now on these levels as you can imagine with some wanting the road to open soon and others wanting the road to be safe before it opens and others still recovering and getting their lives back to order that can't imagine the road opening yet while it's still so rugged and the whole area beyond the road is not structurally intact as discussions continue on. Hard too because we are , by punishable law, not allowed to have visitors visit us, family, friends from other parts of the island, couchsurfer friends. None of this is a complaint as it's just part of life out here and beautiful none the less, just wanted to fully answer your question in detail. There is a Kauai DOT site that outlines it all and that would post updates for actual opening, but right now anything else you would read about dates for road opening no matter how official it looks is just commentary and ideas and discussion based possibilities. No matter where you visit and no matter when you ultimately get to visit Haena, wishing you enjoyable travels !
Thank you for the answers. That’s unfortunate
