If I were to move to Las Vegas, would it be relatively easy for me to find a job as a bartender or server?

If you're looking for a job as a bartender or server on the Strip, it's relative, but I wouldn't say it's easy. I've had a few acquaintances/friends move to Vegas and it's taken them anywhere from 3-6 months to get to a bartending/serving gig on the Strip. If you're looking off-Strip, it'll be a lot easier.
Server jobs on the strip are pretty easy to get, especially if you're a girl (Vegas is like that).
Bartendering jobs are not that as easy. Connections are key here for jobs like that.
Retail stores are always looking for people though, as well as other service jobs.
finding a job in Las Vegas can be hard, if you have experience it would be easier on the strip hard to find a bartending job, off the strip easier.
Make sure you went to school and have some experience, otherwise it will be tough. Just like any town more people you know the better. Keep in mind alot of casinos go through unions. Know your stuff and apply you should eventually find work.
First of all do you have experience? Getting good paying jobs on the strip are extremely competitive. Starting out downtown or somewhere else is the usual path.
I've only been living in Vegas for 4yrs.. but I can definitely help ya out here, for I have landed many a job here and understand how Vegas works. :)) First thing: Server/ Bartender is an elevated position that each place takes very seriously; ..thus you are not likely to -start- in those positions (unless without incredible reference/experience). ..However, since Vegas is based upon (and is) a Resort Ecosystem, there is always a way to find a job. :)) ..The secret is: The Perfect Resume & (most especially) THE PERFECT COVER-LETTER! ..If you have a supremely distinct Resume/CoverLetter detailing your knowledge & how you are the perfect fit... annnnd you walk in there like you own the place & pitch yourself correctly, sliding your Resume/CoverLetter on thick card-stock paper... then, welcome to your new job! ;D This is how I landed my jobs at both the Revere Golf Course & The Westin on the Strip. :) Hope this helps! And best wishes to you!
Landing a serving and bartending job at your local Applebee's or TGIFriday's is pretty easy. Shouldn't take you longer than a week or two.
However, landing a job at a casino on the strip is tough, ESPECIALLY if it's a union job. Those are damn near impossible. You HAVE to know somebody. Those 2 jobs are the most in demand In the city.
I like Chad's advice as it is helpful with smaller venues. Yes, his technique works, but he works at small hotels.
My recommendation? Attend local meet ups, go to bars and meet people, socialize. You never know who you're going to meet.
I work 2 part time jobs on the strip and make well over $100k in both jobs. It's all about the big new hotels.
No, I'm not able to help anyone out. Sorry.
Definitely not easy. These roles are super competitive. It's all about networking, and you often times have to start on the bottom. I personally know one girl who applied for over 500 jobs on the strip and got 3 calls. Appearance is extremely important as well, you'll want to add a professional headshot to your resume. I would recommend looking at off-strip places in Henderson to at least start to get to know people.
First get a job THEN move.
Ive worked in the industry for years and to work on the strip its tough. Most people get the job cause they know someone who reffered them. Other than that ive met tons of people coming out here trying to find a job and they couldnt.
