Manchester fun stuff to do
Hi guys, I am debating to travel to Manchester at the end of September. Any suggestions what' s worth checking out? I like outdoor stuff (hiking, swimming, rafting...) , rock music, vegetarian food :D I also like history and art - so if there are some historic places or museums i shouldn't miss, let me know

What Stephan said - there are some incredible (and quite accessible!) walks in the Peaks District. The "car free walks" website is useful for finding walks that you can get to by public transport. You can also just go walking on the canals - the Visit Manchester website has some stuff on canal walks, some of which start in the city centre. The great thing is that in either case you can get a good hike in, but be able to have a nice meal before you leave, and once you finish, because you'll just be walking from village to village or from the city and through the suburbs.

If you like rock music I would check out Salisbury (Oxford Road), Rebelion (Deansgate) and maybe Grand Central (Oxford Road). In the Northern Quarter, The Castle & Gullivers - both on Oldham Street, are also great music orientated pubs.
Probably the easiest area for a walk is the Peak District; get a train from Piccadilly out to Edale, and look up some walks that go up onto Kinder Scout.

There's a vegetarian rock cafe in the Northern Quarter called V-Revolution.
For vegetarian food I recommend Fuel cafe in Withington. If you go on a Friday night then you can probably also catch some rock music afterwards! https://twitter.com/fuelcafebar
There's not much else to do in Withington, but there are a couple of pubs, and it's not too far from the River Mersey which you can walk along a bit.
Eating: Dosa Express in withington for great South Indian Dosa. Also Sanskruti for SI and Gugerati vege food in Burnage. 1866 (fancy) and Tiffin Room in city. Music: Saw a good Spanish band playing Balkan music last night in the Retro Bar. Lot's of German style Christmas markets :) Museum of Science and Industry MOSI is good if you want to feel some heritage of Manchesters place in the Industrial Revolution. Piccadilly Tap for interesting beer :)
John Ryland Library is worth a trip. Also, if during the week, book a tour round Chethams library. The oldest English language library in the world I think. Its within a music school hence the no weekends and having to book but well worth it. The guided tour is very interested and included in the price
Dont forget your umbrella :-) You dont get good weather in Manchester so for outdoor you need a good umbrella or rain coat.
There are plenty of places for hiking but it depends if you can drive or not. If you coming let me know I go for hike with my dog most weekends so you can join.
There is a very good south Indian vegetarian restaurant in Whithington area called Sanskruti http://www.sanskrutirestaurant.co.uk/manchester/ I am not vegetarian but I love it.
There is an amazing Jam night at Cane & Grain bar(top floor) every Tuesday 9pm - 12pm. Musicians and vocalists are provided with instruments and equipment to get up an improvise with one another. Always an amazing experience, with some incredibly talented musicians and loads of dancing late into the night! Food is really good too!
