Um...Davis, CA! It's renowned for it's agriculture - there are plenty of farms and the people amazing. It's a college town too, so there's usually always something going on in the downtown area. Plenty to explore and many to meet. There are farmer's market twice a week where you can bring in your haul. Check it out!
What kind of farm / labor are you looking for?
There are farmers' markets all over Sacramento weekly. Google for one and go to the one closest to you. Visit with the farmers there and see if they can help you or make recommendations.

If you are looking for a place that has farm fresh produce you could also venture to Vacaville, CA and check out Larry's Produce. They are open everyday from 9am-5pm and you simply cannot beat the cost. I would go before noon though if you want the freshest stuff as after that time most people go and it can get crowded.
Yes. 20th and J has a Saturday's Farmer's Market and I 5th and X street have a larger Sunday Farmer's Market in Sacramento. I also heard this place is very good along with a place called Magpie. I haven't checked it out yet but you can research the reviews:
