Koln Infos...

Good Morning to everyone, I would to ask you some information about livig i Koln. If I don't arrive in Juny I will be there sure in September (it depends if I find any summer job in my city) because on Octuber I start an internship in Siegburg. I would like living in Koln and use train to go during the week in Siegburg (is there some direct train? how much does it cost?). Now some more questions: Life in Koln is a lot expansive? How much does it cost to rent one room in a shared appartment? Is there some website where can I look for to ret a room? Is it easy to find a mini job for the week-end? My internship is not payed so I need to know all these before arriving. Thank you so so much for everything and contact me for all you need to know about Italy or especially about Sicily. Cologne is unfortunately a rather expensive place to live, the rents really aren't that cheap at all. But if you are lucky, you just might find a place for 250€/Month, the average rate for a room in a shared flat would be something between 300 and 400, depending of the neighborhood. If u want to live close to the city center, it'll be more expensive than in the other parts.

btw. "WG" is German for "shared flat", comes from "Wohngemeinschaft" :D

Even if the rents are rather expensive, things like food and a night out can be surprisingly cheap compared to the other European countries...at least if u know where to go :D

If u want to work in Germany, you usually need to be fluent in German. But if you are not all that picky about the job, you might get lucky. For example you could ask in an iris pub, since they often/mostly employ non-German-speakers. If you want to apply for a job in a bar, don't bother to write a fancy application, just pay them a visit and ask if they are currently looking for staff.
