🛑NOTE 1🛑 I can't host for now, but hopefully I'll be able to soon. 🛑NOTE 2🛑 I’m a straight male who enjoys cultural exchange and meeting new people. Please note that I am only looking for strictly platonic friendships with other men. 🛑NOTE 3🛑 If I decline your stay request without texting u back that does mean you didn’t read my home details and rules. 🛑NOTE 4🛑 I kindly ask don't send a friend request if we have never met. If u send it I will have to regretfully refuse it. _________________________________ ABOUT ME: Simo is abbreviation of my name. I’m from Mauritania. I’m a freelancer, hitchhiker and backpacker. I enjoy many things, like street food, deep talks, meeting new people, “country music” and sunset (I have highlight on my Instagram called “my sunsets” where I collected beautiful sunset views from different places) UPDATE: After I have lived in Turkey for more than 7 years I came back again to Mauritania ((the middle of nowhere 😅)). During my living in Turkey, I worked in different and many jobs (such as international guests specialist, interpreter, real estate consultant... ect). In that time, I met amazing people at the university, workplaceS and through Couchsufring too. They shared their life & travel experiences with me, and their inspiring stories. Those people made me believe that travel is the ultimate teacher. I’m passionate about, travel, history, hitchhiking, running, tennis, horse riding, photographyy, politics, documentaries, national & street food, country music, nature and much more. (If u are interested in one of them let’s meet and exchange 😀) _________________________________ PHILOSOPHY: People are not strangers, just friends you haven't met yet. __________________________________ INTERESTS: - Politics - Travel - Architecture - History - Linguistics - Italian fashion HOBBIES: - Learning new languages - Reading books 📚 & Listening Podcasts 🎙️ - Documentaries - Fishing 🎣 - Running 🏃 - Tennis 🎾 - Horse riding 🏇 - Chess ♟️ _____________________________________ ⛔️FOR SURFERS⛔️ I don’t like when surfers act friendly and kind only when they need a place to stay. Once I can’t host them or they find other accommodation, they stop replying and disappear. We can still be friends and hang out, I don’t want to waste time with opportunistic and selfish people. I’m looking to meet genuine friends. 🛑P.S🛑 You don't need to contact me only if u are planning to stay with me, you might also be in touch for tips, advice and/or informations. 🔴PLEASE🔴 Read the details and my house rules and look at the photos of the room where you will be hosted in, before sending a stay request. _______________________________________ Thanks for spending your time to read my profile. Im a student who want to learn everything about life
Hi, My name is Juliette, I'm French, and I started traveling on my own at 20 with the challenge of not flying, out of environmental reasons, but also because I got used to it and became scared of flying now! I overlanded from Southern Africa to Eastern Africa, the Middle East to Europe then to Central Asia and South East Asia, and all the way to Japan, where I was living until recently. I came all the way back from Japan to Mauritania, also by road (trains, hitchhiking, ferry) where I am now working for an international organization. Back in France I'm a Master student very curious about everything but can't stop moving so I travel on a budget with my friends and I do all sorts of activities like organizing a music festival! I love theater, music (I want to discover new genres), food (a lot, cooking and eating), handicrafts... coffee with a view is what brings me joy the most (and chocolate, which I really miss now). I travel to meet people with different ways of life and different visions of the world, to educate myself and discover another culture through local eyes! I love Couchsurfing for bringing together respectful and adventurous human beings, who I always love spending time with, even when there's a language barrier :)) Feel free to contact me if you are in Mauritania, or Senegal within the next months (Summer 2026)! I would love to meet up, host/ be hosted, or travel 😀
Hi. I'm Mou., from Mauritania, on the eastern Atlantic in North-West Africa, exotic country in many ways... I lived studying undergrad in Egypt, MBA in Japan., and Int'l Development at Duke, USA. Work-wise, I had experience mostly in business, consultancy, and teaching. I founded startups and I’m a sea lover! Personally, friendships and travels, of all kinds in the deep sense of discovery, rank high on my value system, not linked to any cultural dogma whatsoever... I like to live simple and free sharing experiences and joy with others, the more different the more interesting!
Hi! I’m Ahmed from Nouakchott, Mauritania 🇲🇷 I work in design and marketing, and I’m the kind of person who enjoys good conversations, discovering new cultures, and sharing stories over tea or coffee. I love meeting people from different backgrounds, learning how they see the world, and exchanging ideas whether it’s about travel, creativity, or everyday life. I’m respectful, easygoing, and I truly appreciate kindness and good energy.
Try to appreciate life as much as I can in this insane world. Let's explore and get inspired ! Every kind of art makes me happy, I usually get along with musicians, creative minds, nature lovers, and party people.

I am a dedicated researcher and scholar with a strong interest in the intersection of language, media, and society. My graduation project, Dialogic Reinforcement of Gender Norms in Mauritanian Television Drama: A Systemic Functional Linguistic Analysis of the Series El Hikaya, explores how gender roles are linguistically reproduced in Mauritanian media through everyday dialogues. By applying Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), my research aims to uncover the subtle ways language reinforces cultural norms and contributes to broader discussions of gender, media, and identity. Beyond my academic research, I am deeply engaged with translation studies, particularly questions of accuracy, strategy, and cultural adaptation between Arabic, French, and English. I often analyze and compare translations to evaluate how meaning is preserved, adapted, or lost, and how translation choices can shape interpretation. I also take an active interest in public speaking and debating, where I focus on developing structured, evidence-based arguments and delivering speeches that combine analytical rigor with emotional resonance. My recent work includes preparing debate arguments and speeches on contemporary social issues, as well as crafting impactful speeches on humanitarian causes. Currently, I am in France on a scholarship, pursuing both academic and professional development opportunities. I am also exploring future career paths, including translation, research, and potential professional work in France. With a commitment to rigorous analysis, cultural understanding, and impactful communication, I strive to contribute meaningfully to discussions on language, media, and society.
