I’m a responsible house sitter traveling between pet sits and enjoying the adventure of exploring new places and communities. I take good care of the homes and animals entrusted to me and am very respectful of people’s space. I keep things tidy and simple, and sometimes just need a safe, peaceful place to rest for a night or two between sits or longer if the host is up to it which would allow me the opportunity to get to know the community better w/o any distractions.
Hi, I'm Ethan. I am Taiwanese, born and raised in Taichung, which is in the middle of Taiwan. I lived in Taichung for a really long time, and I know a some nice place that I could show you. I'm an easy-going, open-minded person. I love traveling, meeting new people around the world and discovering other cultures.
CURRENT MISSION to live and learn, enjoying the journey ABOUT ME I love languages and traveling, basically because I like people. I've traveled, lived, studied and worked a lot overseas (more than 6 years of my life, total - mostly Europe - see country section). I was settled for over 10 years in New York City, before joining the Peace Corps, taking off again to teach English in Jordan for 3 years. I'm currently living in Lexington, KY, where I've returned to doing massage therapy after about 8 years of teaching ESL. I like yoga, swimming, running and cycling, although I'm not always able to do them regularly.

Having lived on two continents, I bring a global perspective and a genuine curiosity for learning. I enjoy exploring new cultures and continuously expanding my understanding of the world.
CURRENT MISSION Learn about people, sustainable living, agriculture and food systems around the world. Find new communities to connect with. Pet all the animals. Hike all the trails. ABOUT ME I left a very nice job in 2011 to travel around the world to learn about sustainable living, agriculture and food systems. For 2 years, I traveled, CouchSurfed, WWOOFed and the like. Then I worked on a farm in Kentucky for a few years and traveled in the off season. I made another attempt at “normal” life and realized that on the road is where I really want to be. So here I am again. I’m self-employed as a writer, project and communications manager, food-systems advocate, and podcast host. This is not a lucrative proposition, but it’s one that feeds my soul. My life kind of revolves around food. I will gladly cook for anyone, and it’s a real treat when someone wants to cook for me. I do have a significant food allergy, so let’s talk about that … I’m a non-smoker and am sensitive to smoke, which is to say I will not smoke in your home, and please tell me ahead of time if you do! PHILOSOPHY "Adventure" is always the right answer. Stay hungry. Stay foolish. --The Whole Earth Catalog

Just moved to Alaska. ________________ Though I have grown to love living in Kentucky, exploring them mountains, the diners, and being surrounded by beautiful music, I also never seem to stop exploring new things and visiting new places....which is why I enjoy CouchSuring. I have lived in several cities in the US, including Nashville, New Orleans, and Denver, and have ventured to Ireland, France, Guatemala, and Mexico. I tend to try to find good projects to work on during my travels and have a hard time doing nothing. PHILOSOPHY (Why I used Mad Farmer as a profile name:) Mad Farmer Manifesto, Wendel Berry Love the quick profit, the annual raise, vacation with pay. Want more of everything ready-made. Be afraid to know your neighbors and to die. And you will have a window in your head. Not even your future will be a mystery any more. Your mind will be punched in a card and shut away in a little drawer. When they want you to buy something they will call you. When they want you to die for profit they will let you know. So, friends, every day do something that won't compute. Love the Lord. Love the world. Work for nothing. Take all that you have and be poor. Love someone who does not deserve it. Denounce the government and embrace the flag. Hope to live in that free republic for which it stands. Give your approval to all you cannot understand. Praise ignorance, for what man has not encountered he has not destroyed. Ask the questions that have no answers. Invest in the millenium. Plant sequoias. Say that your main crop is the forest that you did not plant, that you will not live to harvest. Say that the leaves are harvested when they have rotted into the mold. Call that profit. Prophesy such returns. Put your faith in the two inches of humus that will build under the trees every thousand years. Listen to carrion - put your ear close, and hear the faint chattering of the songs that are to come. Expect the end of the world. Laugh. Laughter is immeasurable. Be joyful though you have considered all the facts. So long as women do not go cheap for power, please women more than men. Ask yourself: Will this satisfy a woman satisfied to bear a child? Will this disturb the sleep of a woman near to giving birth? Go with your love to the fields. Lie down in the shade. Rest your head in her lap. Swear allegiance to what is nighest your thoughts. As soon as the generals and the politicos can predict the motions of your mind, lose it. Leave it as a sign to mark the false trail, the way you didn't go. Be like the fox who makes more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Practice resurrection. -wb

My name is Kayti and I own the last traveling ten-in-one carnival style traditional touring sideshow group called Tinderbox Circus Sideshow. When seeking lodging there will be any number of people from 1-6 depending on whose on the road with us at that time, but that will be specified in each surf request we post on here. I created this profile primarily as a way to find crash spots while on tour, but will utilize it for personal trips if needed. When taking guests, my home is a 5 bedroom, 4 bath gigantic home with two cats and one dog (tiny) in residence. My husband and I keep a decently clean home with two other roommates. All tile flooring. We accommodate to every guest as best we can. Even when I'm on the road, he can still take guests. We have one couch in the living room that sleeps more comfortably than expected that sleeps one. Anywhere between one and three open bedrooms depending on who's at home at the moment (all roommates are touring performers). There's two couches in the basement that are also deceivably comfortable...sleeps three or four altogether depending on your preference. We've also been known to turn the living room into a blanket fort from time to time for guests as well. :D For more information about my troupe, seek out our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter! www.facebook.com/tinderboxcircus @tinderboxcircus
