CURRENT MISSION Life should be simple and natural - striving that for ourselves and those we encounter ABOUT ME I live in Waunakee, Wisconsin and am a Senior Mechanical Engineer and a former volunteer firefighter. I have 12 year old twins that live with me half time and their mother the other half. PHILOSOPHY Always be kind. Respecting nature and the world around us.
CURRENT MISSION Bring the world back to my home town and with my partner, raise a kind and ever-curious world traveler. ABOUT ME I have lived in 5 countries and traveled to 6 continents. I spent the majority of the past decade living in various parts of Africa. I am now back in my hometown of Madison, WI, USA with my husband, Charles and our 7 year old, Oliver. We get a lot of couch requests so we will not be accepting generic couch requests. PHILOSOPHY "I remember that time that you told me, you said love is touching souls surely you touched mine cause part of you pours out of me in these lines from time to time." I stole these from the Joni Mitchell song "A Case of You" and Indigo Girls "Get Out the Map" Putting them together I come away with: Take what you can, learn, really learn from every experience, good or bad and especially let yourself learn and grow from those people who touch your life. After all we really are little more than the accumulation of our experiences, relationships and how we choose to react to them.
I love petting dogs and cats and goats. Getting my hands dirty in the garden is sublime. I've read a lot in the past, but have lately focused more on doing and less on reading (I still read novels). I want to help my neighbors build a better world and at the same time, I'm interested in, and care about the less fortunate around the world. If it's food related, whether cooking, growing, fermenting, or foraging, I'm interested. I love to be outside, especially on my bike. I've recently taken up throwing things on the wheel. PHILOSOPHY Be a leaver, not a taker.
CURRENT MISSION Stay loving, stay alive, stay learning ABOUT ME Longterm survivor-- largely by chance. Love and have traveled in European and Mediterranean countries, Asia overland (when we could) through Turkey-Iran-Afghanistan-India-Nepal-Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia from Burma to Bali but mostly Borneo. All for schooling, work, study, field research, projects, play, inertia, pure curiosity. Don't travel as much as I should now, no hiker either, but still excited about travel and learning. PHILOSOPHY Stretch the limits, if you feel like it. Don't be evil. Don't reduce the I-Thou to an I-It. Rise to the situation and pull it up after you. Get a move on, time's short. Be in the moment for a moment! Try again.
