Guests who stay with me think I'll be chatty and excited to meet them. The later may be true but not the first. Please remember that. If you send a request, please mention that you've read and are aware of that. I like to go out and have fun, but it usually takes a bit at first to get me in the mood. Perhaps I'm just a late night person. I'm not usually one to break the ice either. I'm also a dual citizen between Luxembourg and the United States. I really enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures and viewpoints which differ from my own. I grew up in rural Midwest America, and while I value that background in many ways, it propelled me to get out and explore the world. I'e found Couchsurfing to be a great way to get a local perspective and form meaningful connections. As an American, the military is often the best path to do so (for better or worse) when you don't come from money. I've been a Naval officer since 2009; originally in nuclear submarines, and now as a foreign affairs specialist/diplomat within the military. Along the way I studied nuclear engineering, finance (MBA), and international relations. I have far too many interests to list here. I've lived several places in the US, as well as Singapore, Cabo Verde, and Germany. I'm all about life and the living, and similarly-minded people.

I grew up near Vladivostok, Russia, but have moved to Washington, DC 20+ years ago. Married to a great guy for 10+ years. I’m an IT consultant by profession, father of 2 - twins, live in Baltimore, MD, and love to travel. I couchsurf because the best part of traveling isn't just the sights — it's the two-hour conversation with someone who actually lives there. I'm respectful, low-maintenance, up for cooking together or just listening to your stories about the city, and I always leave a place better than I found it. Not sure how to pause hosting with the recent changes to Couchsurfing but I'm making some career changes right now, not the best time to host - sorry! My background is in Water Planning and Policy, Civil Engineering and Hydrogeology, and Water Journalism. In 2012, I founded an online water media and education nonprofit (WaterCitizen), which includes a Media outlet. We also offer online courses, communities and virtual transformational mastermind programs for Women Water Professionals and Water Entrepreneurs. I work from home or wherever I can get work done on my laptop or phone. If I am traveling to your city, chances are it is to provide media coverage for some sort of water-related conference, although I do try to schedule in time to visit with my hosts when I can and if they are available!
