Hi. I'm based half the time at Ruapuehu just outside Ohakune (Turoa Whakapapa) in off-grid cabins. So power etc is a little quirky. It is on a hectare of land that backs onto the National Park. My neighbours and I are running a modest trapping program for the Whio in the river and for the Kiwi nearby - hoping they will come closer to my place so I can hear them at night.

Something notable I have done? Went to Guyana, took a 12-hour bus trip on dirt road into Amazon, borrowed a canoe from a research camp, paddled it an hour up a river at sunset and listened to the sounds in the dark. Was freaky.

Hikes around Tongariro national park, usually sleeping under a tarp. Free diving trips, from that boat to those islands. Doing up and landscaping my place- it's a project alright. Might set up a work-away landscaping, trapping program. Member of Forest & Bird.
